The name of this campground is actually Smokey Cub, not Canyon Creek. It is clean, peaceful, quiet, and in an incredibly beautiful and unique environment. The bathrooms are really clean and always stocked. There are only 8 designated sites available with fire rings and picnic tables. There is no fee, no reservations, and there are no hookups. Most of the sites are ideal for RV's or trailers, but can also accommodate tents. There is one site specifically designated for tent camping, which is located in the middle of the campground. Here, the creek forks and runs on both sides of the site. Access to this site is obtained by crossing a small bridge from the parking area. The campground is situated right at the base of the Beaverhead mountain range, which provides some amazing scenery. Nestled next to Canyon Creek, the campground is characterized by a riparian area surrounded by sagebrush and numerous tree species, from Douglas Fir and Rocky Mountain Juniper to multiple deciduous hardwood species. This makes for a beautiful camping experience in the autumn season. The location of the campground is next to Highway 29, but it is down and slightly lower than the highway, which helps to shield the wind. A short walk back up to the highway yields beautiful views of the vast sagebrush steppe valley and of the town of Leadore and the Lemhi mountain range to the west. This is a great campground in the fall; however, be prepared for cold, wet weather, and the campground can fill up fast during this time of the year because it is a popular spot with hunters. Summer camping could be quite hot and buggy since there are not many tall trees and there are agricultural fields and cattle grazing allotments nearby.

I am at smokey cubs, I like it very much, the water is okay but bitter. Okay for washing but bring the drinking water or a really good filter for minerals.

It has been our get away from the heat of the city, our dogs can run freely, with a small creek and enough trees to share our RV, very peaceful and quiet
