Great place. Old station with modernized platforms which I like. If you're looking for something to eat either on a train or after getting off, the nearby bakery is great!

Which platform for the New Haven bound train? The station has no signage which is inconvenient.

AnnaMarie has is correct - the side where the commuter parking is, Southbound trains. The other side - where the apartments are, is Northbound.

I woul like to connect to metro north in new heaven going to Harlem. What's the cost from Hartford to get there?

From Hartford, take the Hartford Line (hartfordline.com) to New Haven for $8. To Harlem, it's $23.50 peak (arriving Grand Central 6-10 AM and leaving 4-8 PM) and $17.75 off-peak (all other times). You can also take the Hartford Line from Windsor, but not all of the trains continue north of Hartford.
