Skull Crack Trailhead is an ideal place to launch a paddleboard or kayak into Causey Reservoir. The paddle to cliff jumping (Skull Crack Rock) and rope swining isn't far and the views only get better from their (going eastbound into the channels). The rocks, water, and scenery is stunning but recede quickly in the summer and remain low through autumn. Thousands of butterflies and dragonflies migrate through this area, making it feel like a secluded, magical paradise in the early summer.

Loved the hike. Location and trail was perfect. Going again very soon and going to the end next time.

We went mid July, we got there at 8am the parking was already full. No one on the trail. It’s a one person trail. Take water. There are shaded spots but there was a patch that wasn’t and that was very hot even at 10am. It’s so nice you can see all the kayaks and people jumping into the water. We left at 11:30 and the parking and road to leave was insane. Be very careful and ready to wait a while. There is a shared bathroom but it wasn’t kept very nice.

Quiet, calming, peaceful. It is just simply a wonderful hike. Not rigorous at all. Beautiful views.
