Question: What is the best wine? Answer: The one you like. I have not aways been a fan of Iowa wines. Some that I have had are indeed made from grapes but all too often had a medicinal after taste. So at Tassel Ridge (Leighton, Iowa) I went for the wine family I like most: the dry, deep reds. I tried three: the American Merlot, Robert Duncan, and the Iowa Marquette, and I have to say that I would drink them again...and again. All three had very pleasant bouquets and a good finish. Finally, Iowa wines that did not taste a little like cough medicine. I bought two bottles. But our trip to Tassel Ridge was more than just finding and trying wines. We also enjoyed a Bistro lunch (soup, salad, sandwich). Again like the wine, very satisfying. These lunches are served M-F and on select Saturdays and Sundays. On other dates, Tassel Ridge hosts wine events. Best to check the website site for a full listing. The winery is quite large with both indoor and outdoor seating. It is clean, tastefully decorated with room to shop for wine accessories. If you are looking for a cheap Iowa wine experience, don't go. The wines are not cheap. Tassel Ridge vintners take pride in their work and the prices reflect the quality and craftsmanship of the wines and the vintners.

Awesome experience!!! Wish I could give more than 5 stars. Pizza and wines are wonderful. Service A+. Definitely need to buy more bottles at Hy-Vee (I live in Cedar Rapids). Definitely want to come back. One of the best Iowa wineries.

My experience at Tassel Ridge was great. The people were friendly and the wine tasted great. You can't beat free wine tasting. Where I am from you have to pay to taste wines at different wineries. Wine prices were decently priced and the overall experience was excellent. The bad part about this winery is after purchasing a few different bottles of wine that we enjoyed, a few days later we opened them and they did not taste the same as the ones that were sampled at the winery. All the people I had went with agreed with this as well.

I just served it for a local store so yes, they do. Ambassador, Tassel Ridge Winery
Its not MY wine, but Tassel Ridge is available in Des Moines grocery stores. We find it at the Altoona Hy Vee (thats where we live). You can also find it at the Iowa Wine Store in Valley Junction. If you havent already done so, visit the winery in Leighton. Nice place with bistro style lunches.
Check the website..they have specific food on specific days
Nope, I do believe that it's a gentleman out of California that owns tassel ridge
The labels are peeling off from the water in the cooler. The water reacts with the glue that is keeping the label on, and it makes the label fall off. The slime that is left is just the remaining glue after being mixed with water.
It always starts at 11am, but the menu might be different every week.
