Probably the most knowledgeable and passionate servers in the valley. The wines are spectacular too. Great wine tasting experience.

My wife and I visited Penner-Ash in Mid-Sept for a tasting which included a short tour of the vineyard. Our visit immediately preceded harvest, and touring and sampling wines from the estate vineyard ripe with grapes was a memorable experience. The tasting patio offers a stunning view of the Chehalem Creek to the east. Our host Alex was knowledgeable and provided good insight into the various Pinot Noirs during our tasting. The flight was very good overall; however, the 2018 Estate Pinot Noir and 2017 Zena Crown Pinot were our favorites. Also notable was their 2020 Rogue Valley Viognier which had the refreshing floral, stone-fruit notes which we love in the variety. Recommended.

Well the view used to be good from the Adirondacks but some genius planted really high grass in the way! The view would have made up for the poorly made “2018 estate Pinot noir”. I can’t believe how far Penner-Ash has fallen. We have been coming here for more than a decade but this is the first time in about two years (COVID). I bought a $75 bottle of the 18 estate which used to be very good wine and worth the high price. Unfortunately since Penner and Ash sold the winery to Jackson of California they have clearly lost their focus on the wine. This bottle is literally a $20 bottle, thin, acidic, no depth to it at all. If you come here select a different vineyard, hopefully the Shea is still good. Additionally, the hospitality sucked! We didn’t have a reservation, but there were only ten people in the place and they said we couldn’t do a tasting, hence the reason we bought the bottle. Apparently the staff can stand around and chat instead of accepting customers who walk through the door. sadly, this will be our last visit to what was one our favorite vineyards.

Visited mid-August and had a wonderful time. They've always had outdoor seating so social distancing was not an issue. Wines were as delicious as we remember them from our last visit. Yes, we keep coming back, for a reason. We love the wine, the view, the people. You can't ask for anything more.
