We love riding ATV's here! Been riding there for 2 years with our 2 kids ages 10 &13. Easily accessible, clean trails and side by side are welcome too!

Pretty nice place and out of the way so not many people. There are some nice off-roading areas for ATVs and Jeeps (I used a Land Cruiser). The area is pretty swampy and does not really have access to the St. Croix River. In 2011 there was a huge tree blow down from straight line winds so a lot of the forest is regrowing.

It's a state forest. It has trees. But there is more! Campsites. Lakes. 22 miles of Horseback trails. 25 Miles of Mountain Biking. 45 Miles of ATV trails. 42 Miles of Snowmobiling trails. Hunter walking trails. It even has a dog sledding area. There's a whole lot more here than your typical state forest and you don't have to pay to enter like you do at the state parks.

This is a great place for trail riding in the spring and fall. The bugs become overwhelming in the summer. From the Tamarack parking lot you have a great ride across the river twice and up the hill to a great overlook. A nice alternative is to ride the state trail to Danbury, WI, crossing the St. Croix River on an old railroad bridge.

Questions & Answers

Do you need a permit to ride on the trails or can anyone just go through them? New to the state..

Also make sure to pay attention when entering WI, you need a separate license.
