SS local offices don't offer support to people in need. Just a paper on the wall with the only indication that you should call their only one general number and make an appointment. I only saw the employees during their breaks going out to grab something to eat.

No you can not get a SS card at this location you have to go to the Social Security Card Centet there is one in each borough except for Staten Island.

You can walk in. You walk in to a kiosk, type your ss# and get a number. They DO NOT DO Social Security cards here. You must go to 123 William Street for a card. ( Bring photo ID) to both places. At 126th you can apply for a claim, check on a claim and get a free copy of your award letter. At the card center they confirm your identity and validate your mailing address and mail the card in 7-10 biz days.
