As my experience had been lately, not impressive from the outside but inside we were met with excellent service and an authentic menu. One photo is the Halibut and another Sole. Recommend both!

I'm having a hard time with this review, fundamentally this restaurant is all about the food. This restaurant is quite established it's been there forever. I went there with a party of six and it was a real issue seating us together, the tables are just simply too small. We ordered for appetizers for the table and between that and our dinner it was roughly $650 with wone and cocktails. Cocktails will run you $9 to $14 a piece and they have quite an extensive selection of wine. I found the food to be good quality and presentation was on point for this type of restaurant. The service was decent.

I've only been here a few times and enjoyed the meals but tonight the veal was more like something you'd get from a TV dinner!! The BROWN sauce was EXACTLY the same taste as I remember when I was 18-20 years old and buying cheap frozen dinners. My wife who is an EXCELLENT cook agreed with me. I left the entire plate untouched hoping the server might notice and ask if he could get me anything else but they just picked up the entire untouched plate without a comment and dumped it I'm sure. This to me showed a lack of concern of the servers for the customers satisfaction with their dinner. Last time here for sure.

My wife and I took in Chez Max for the first time while we were in town tor a weekend. We were looking for a French restaurant with traditional French fare. Chez Max is the place. It is traditional from the outside to the inside. The escargots and foie gras were great starters. The escargots was crowned with a nicely done puff pastry and the foie gras with blackberries and vanilla poached pear was perfect. The lamb chops and duck breast were exactly what we were looking for. For us this traditional French fare is comfort food. Regarding the wine; Prior to arriving, I went online to view the menu and wine list and found only a small list of wines online. After arriving i was glad to find a more comprehensive wine list. The only negative is that, of the better Napa wines on the list, most were vintages that I could not agree to open because they were too young and not ready to drink. We found the pricing to be very fair. Thank You Oliver for great service. I highy recommend Chez Max -- we look forward to returning.

We have two private rooms. One seats 24 and the other 16.
We are open on New Year's Eve each year from 5 pm until 10 pm. We offer a limited menu on that evening. Reservations required.
Yes
We offer two dining areas. Our main dining area we prefer at least business casual (jeans permitted). Our bar area is less formal where our guests can relax. We only ask that t-shirts worn do not have any profanity or offensive material.
