Yes absolutely.. the only issue is you might need to go twice. Once to get an appointment and then when you have the appointment. Renewal is super easy and they take you photos right in the consulate. My aunt got her renewed Passport in less than 1 week! Yes 1 week. I still can't wrap my head around that but in 5 days...with no rush request. Mine hasn't arrived yet and we went on the same day but it's only been 10 days as of this post!

I'm not with the consulate just someone who has business in portugal. I believe they open at 8:30. You will need to go in person and talk to someone there. They might not give you an appointment the same day but if mention the urgency they might be able to help in some way. I highly recommend not going in their with any animosity or self importance they will shut you down and you won't get anything done.

I suggest going first thing in the morning and asking. You have nothing to lose by waiting 10-15 minutes to get the right info. They were very helpful when I was there.

You should visit their site. That is one of the process handled only via mail and all of the directions on how to do that are there.

Did you check your spam folder? If not try again making another appointment and write down the time and day

You have to renew the card, and only after receiving the card, you can do it. There are those on the days indicated for each service. If you live near the consulate, I recommend going there and asking yourself why the phone system is not good. Or try to send email.

I think you'll need a citizen card, birth certificate. But you can check the website or call in October to try sending email to confirm.

They take the required picture at the portuguese consulate. Theres no longer a need to take photos to bring to consulate

I was just there for my cartao do cidadao. You do not make an appointment for cartao do cidadao or passport. You need to go as early as you can and put yourself on the list. Yes , plan on being there for at least a couple hours or longer. My last visit they closed the doors st 10 AM because of to many people. Another crazy day at the consulate...there is no one to contact for info anymore so read website for what you need to bring with you so you are prepared and not turned away. Good luck!
