Even with all the renovations and new management, I still think this place is in need of a lot of improvements and rethinking. My biggest complaint is how cheap everything is done. I live in a recently renovated unit, and have had multiple fallen cabinets, appliance issues, you name it. The doors to the bedrooms and bathrooms aren't engineered properly, so they are impossible to open and close when the wood expands. On top of that the maintenance response has been slow and poor. I moved in with an issue with my water heater, and it took about 6 service requests and "fixes" over the span of 2 or so months for them to realize i needed a new water heater. On top of that I have some safety concerns. The entrance doors to the buildings keep breaking to the point they don't lock. It gets fixed and a few days later it wont lock again - very cheaply made and carelessly fixed at the safety expense of their residents. I also did not wake up to a fire alarm one evening, as the alarms are only in the hallway and not loud enough. Overall, I am paying far too much for the cheap "renovations" they have made, and I hope they can continue to learn and improve from their very blaring mistakes.

Since the day I made my appointment for a viewing, I had been so excited to be living in the Hawthorne apartments. They are remodel and very comfortable living. The best part, which is my most favorite, is the laundry in the apartment. I'm also very excited about our new remodel club house! My daughter loves the pool, and I can't wait to utilize the gym they have. Most importantly, MARINA has been very helpful with any questions and concerns my family and I had, as well as GABRIEL. I just had a baby, and they both have been very attended with my needs in regards to any problems and questions I have about my apartment. If I were to move from here, it would be once I buy my own house. Other than that, I highly recommend moving to Hawthorne apartments.

I'm currently a resident here going on 2 years. I like the apartment, and the new Hawthorn management is making some upgrades inside and out, especially fixing the main front door lock (this is good, kind of an inconvenience for me personally because now I have to take my keys out in the cold but that's not a real complaint 😂). I will say however that raising the rent for those that resign and offering low prices to new residents shows they don't want you to stay. Started out paying a little over $1,400/month, now paying over $1,600...and I know people that moved in that pay the lower rent for the same size. The water only has 2 settings, pretty warm and scalding hot and it changes randomly while you shower. Lastly, the thing that's upsetting me the most is the family that moved in upstairs from us. They are extremely loud at all hours randomly. I personally don't sleep much naturally, and despite this review I really do hate complaining. I'm the type of person that won't even send back food at a restaurant and will just get "hey things happen". Yet the family that moved upstairs sounds like they're hosting a wrestling tournament at so many different times throughout the Day when I'm home. It's loud banging that, even with noise canceling headphones on, shakes our walls, and I have a mounted TV so hopefully nothing happens with that. I even have like 8 videos over the span of 2 days to prove it. I'm 190lbs, my roommate is about 230 both athletically built, so we should walk heavy right? No we're both pretty light and we couldn't make that much noise if we tried. It's not just them walking either because you can hear the difference when they just walk, it sounds like the floor will cave in sometimes. I know this is not management's fault necessarily, but tell your residents not to move on the top floor if you aren't respectful of the fact that people live under you and may work from home sometimes. Don't appreciate potentially losing a sale during a meeting because they want to play with sledgehammers or something. I've contacted management through the portal but since I haven't heard back it seems I'm going to go talk to the upstairs neighbors myself. I've legitimately never even heard my next door neighbors unless I'm in the hallway, which who cares in that situation? Want to stay but why would we? The rent is likely going to be $1,700+ next year and the division 1 wresting tournament will be ruining my little sleep and work meetings anways.

The maintenance is slow and someone has been Black Friday shopping in the mailroom since I had two packages in a row mysteriously disappear when delivered by Amazon. I give this place 3 stars because I love the unit layout and the maintenance guys are friendly. Just understaffed. EDIT: this was a 3 star review but the new management team has been wonderful. Much needed renovations and more maintenance staff have been provided. Still here happily a year later. 5 stars now
