The place is safe, the neighbors are friendly, mostly good people. The apartments are pretty good size although old. There are some floors where children can be heard in the hallway late at night playing. I have seen some fights and heard loud music a few times, but it is not a regular occurrence. Police presence is nearby, and officers are generally helpful. BUT...There are those who throw trash where it doesn't go (what does your home look like inside if you just drop garbage outside it?) They are cracking down on that and for the past month , it has been a lot cleaner. They do treat for bugs and mice, and personally we haven't seen ANY in our current apartment. There have been many cosmetic and maintenance improvements to the common areas and apartments over the past few months as well NOW- THIS is a SYSTEMIC problem I am going to describe here and IS NOT aimed at ANY PARTICULAR manager (Most have been great, did their best and tried to take care of everyone here). THIS is the problem: THE MANAGEMENT ROTATES EVERY FEW MONTHS WITHOUT WARNING. Surprise! you have a new manager AND maintenance crew. Most of the new manager's first month or so seems to be spent just trying to figure out what the last person did while manager. I do not understand the reason for running the place this way. It seems very inefficient and unfair to residents and workers alike. Every time a new person comes in, we have to adjust to how they do things, what office hours they set, and they don't always know what the last manager discussed with us, nor do they have time to get caught up on the issues individuals are facing such as medical, financial, legal, maintenance. This can be anxiety provoking and is not helpful to those who are trying to find stability in their lives. Past managers I have talked to all seem to be in the dark as to why this is happening.

I grew up in this area I remember back then how bad it was and I told myself I’m never moved there As time went on things have changed my parents ended up losing their home and they wanted to be independent so they applied they were accepted I was so afraid because of the past once my parents moved in It was a different story The building started its remodeling my parents ended up getting an apartment that was very clean new carpet new paint stove and refrigerator pest control free The apartments are pretty big in size which is a plus my parents and I are happy here there’s been some ups and downs with residence management and owners I know it has to do a lot with the ignorance of residence and poor (Owners) and employees but this building came up a long way yes it’s still in progress I also ended up moving here we went through a period of a standstill nothing was getting done yes it was frustrating but finally there’s improvement as far as management I don’t understand why we have so many coming and going I’ve met several of them and some where caring understanding certain and did their best to try to manage this building I know certain things was out of their control and I know they got bad wraps for that as far for security Natalie she stays on top of situations and handles the situation people don’t realize this is their job they don’t own the building but they do their part for our building I feel that the (owners )Need to do Their part and give the resources that managers residence maintenance custodian and security need to Do their job as far as the residence here everyone I crossed paths with are friendly and respectful I feel safe living here I just wish the owners would do their part and give the resource we need to improve The building

Feel safe living here,

I've been living here for almost 7 months now and the staff has been great to me and my children. I was scared at first but they helped me transition smoothly. They're always prompt about getting things done and fixed and my neighbors are all good people. One thing I admire the most about living here was when I had to get surgery in June and I notified Natalie she sent prayers my way and told me if it was anything I needed don't hesitate to ask them. That really made me feel good knowing that they genuinely cared about not just me but all the residents residing here. Mrs. Nicole is a great person and has been much help in assisting me with resources to help me get familiar with this area. I'm from Chicago and have no family out here. Just me and my boys starting over fresh. If you're looking for a place to call home where you can feel safe and have a peace of mind I recommend moving here. The building always clean and all the neighbors are cool and helpful. I love living here and grateful for finally having a place to call home for me and the boys.

The market rate is $1300, however, the apartments here have a section 8 program included, so rent is basically 1/3 of your GROSS income, and a utility allowance keeps your electricity bill lower as well.
I was just a vistor there the hole dam building need a lot of work the entry looks like old CHA buildings berfore they were demolished start calling NHC the carpet in the apartment I was in need to be removthe hallways too
These are low income apartments. They base your rent, if your application is accepted, on your income. usually 30%.
I used to live there from Jan 2011 to Oct 2016. I stayed to myself. The main reason behind me moving was due to the bug problem. They would bomb the floors/units but your neighbors rodents would scatter and still end up in the apartments. I also chose to leave to advance in my academic career. Since I did not have any children, I wasn't able to start school right away. I had to wait a year after moving in, to enroll in a CNA class. I also wanted to advance in the medical field, so eventually, I had to leave anyways. I've been succeeding since. I am currently enrolled at NIU, since Aug 2019 🙏
You need a letter from a medical professional stating that the pet is an emotional support animal and also need paperwork showing vaccinations and shots.
Did you move into Leland Tower?
There should be a 2 bedroom opening in a week or 2, as we are moving out of ours.
