I had wanted to stop here for a long time and am so glad I did. We pulled in and noticed there was also a Wildlife sanctuary here that you can enter and see critters. We saw a porcupine and hedgehog as well as tree frogs, a tarantula and a Turtle that thinks fingers are worms and will try to eat them through the glass. It was awesome, but not the reason we went. We went for the trails and to walk around, and we're not disappointed! They have lovely large trees scattered around the area, and a beautiful segment of open path that is scattered with fairy houses resting in the trees. It was so much fun to spot them hiding high and low. This is a great place for children and honestly, people of all ages that enjoy animals, trails, and adventure with a splash of creativity and magic.

Put down the remote, tablet and phone or bring it with you and get to Mendon Ponds Park and breathe fresh life into your soul. You want to be there.

Well maintained trails. Quiet. Geese on the lake. Some birds in the trees. We saw a white fronted goose!

There's so much to love about Mendon Ponds. Words cannot do it justice. There are so many places to explore it would take a year or more to see them all. Great place for families. Dog friendly. Bathrooms. Playgrounds. Cabins and shelters for rent. Hiking, canoeing, horseback riding, fishing. Bird watching-- check out Wild Wings bird shelter. Sight seeing. Cross country skiing and snow shoeing. And don't forget the sledding!!!

Congrats to you Miriam, I didn't.
The fairy houses were moved from Tinker Park to Mendon Ponds Park.
Oh the birdsong trail which starts near Wild Wings.
It was grubs in the soil. We think raccoons were trying to dig them up
No , it's free to enter the park. If you want to rent a cabin it costs money though.
I didn't see any signs saying either way
I don't kayak, but I'd say no. There is a lake. I only know one area to access and it is very shallow to get in there. People lead horses there to drink.
It's listed as a non-camping place. I didn't see any homeless people there.
The park is very safe. I walk alone through the forest but I'm always aware of your surroundings
The fairy trail goes down hill, albeit slightly, and there may be some tree roots you have to navigate around.
The boat launch is open from May 1st to October 31st, however there is no indication that kayaking has any open/close dates, which makes sense since people are out ice fishing in the winter. If you Know How To Be Safe you can ski, fish or boat on the ice/water anytime the physics are right. There are other places without docks you could put-in.
I'm not sure but you can try by the Wild Wings area to start. If not I'm sure someone over there can help you, hopefully. If not there's plenty of other trails you can walk!
Indeed, plenty if places to cast from shore. If you have waders even more options!
If there is no swimming i couldn't tell that by all the people who were swimming yesterday.
There are no pools. However, there are many ponds and trails. Also there are many areas to eat lunch or hold othsr gatherings.
Not sure about the hours for the park but there is no admission for this park. You go and leave as you please. I'm sure you'll be ok to enter the park at any time you want seeing that there are no gates or anything to stop you from going in
I agree... anytime on a weekday...less people.. though the birds dont seem to mind
