Very peaceful, quiet, the sheep and donkeys are interesting, hundreds of acres for hiking, excellent food.

I have never stayed in a Monastery before but this was an incredible experience. I arrived on a Friday afternoon and Brother Bruno showed me to my room which was simple but clean and perfect for my needs. I had a comfortable bed, full kitchen, desk + chair, reclining chair, couch and full bath (shower, no tub, fine by me). They provided linens & towels. The whole atmosphere of the monastery is welcoming, quiet, peaceful and tranquil. I would head over to Chapel for daily prayers (which ranged from 10 minutes to 30 minutes and were beautiful and centering) and then in between prayer time, rest in my room, read, pray and rejuvenate. The atmosphere is quiet and I would avoid taking phone calls in my room but instead do them in my car to respect others who were doing silent retreats. For breakfast, Brother Bruno showed me a small pantry with a coffee maker (even though I already made some in my room) and cereal with milk and homemade zucchini bread from one of the brothers (outstanding). For lunch and dinner, I ate in the refectory with the brothers. The meals were homemade, delicious and nutritious. During lunch, one brother read scripture and a story about monkhood as well as sharing the chores for the afternoon. The evenings for dinner, we just listened to classical music. I also spent some time walking the property and looking at the sheep, rolling hills and flowing streams. It was bliss. My only regret was I wished I spent an extra day or two there and asked if I could work with any of the brothers to help prepare a meal or do manual labor to help contribute to the community, but my time there was so short. I also would advise anyone going to dress warm, gloves, hats, scarves, etc. Everywhere indoors was well heated but the property itself was bitter cold even though was there in late March. Overall, life changing experience and I hope to return soon.

Hello, is it possible to request audience with Brother David?
Br. John Thomson is the Prior.
The wood carving or the statue is that of Saint Benedict of Nursia, the founder of the Benedictine order, of which Mount Savior is a part. The statue, as I believe and told me, was carved by Brother Dominic who is a Carthusian monk, who is currently residing at the monastery and will be leaving soon as he has completed his studies.
