We were looking forward to 5 nights after driving 6 hours in heavy rain, the SP road was closed and the only alternative was 6 mile pot hole filled road to hwy 61. The site was a pull through but the rains had a made a muddy mess. It was about dark and left connected to truck. I had 1 bar of Verizon with little or no internet. We decided to leave the next day for another CG, they gave us a 2 yr voucher. Neal the ranger was most helpful. Lake was beautiful, probably good fishing! Make sure u call and check on road conditions first!

As others had said the main road is under construction so the to the park is horrible. We stayed in March 2022 and the ranger told us the road construction started last April. I know it is new that state parks even have a laundry but this is one washer and one dryer. The washer was out of order and was told by the leasing company the technician had been out but the issue was the coin part was full and it takes a different technician to empty it. Was never corrected while we was there. Saw the comment about sites being close together and were more so than a lot of state parks but nothing like many private RV parks.

I gave a 3 star review because there was good and bad things about this park. Good- the bath and shower area was very clean and kept up nicely! Also, we did not stay in the cabins but they did look pretty nice and some had good access to the lake. Bad- the campsites, at least in our area campsite B, were way too close to each other. You could here each other’s conversations and see right into each other’s RV’s. Also, although this was a State Park, I feel like the maintenance of the park could have been better. There were no trash bins throughout the park either except one dumpster on the way out. Also, the main road leading to the state park was under construction so you had to take a long and winding detour through some pretty sketchy neighborhoods and on some really poorly maintained roads to get there. Not to mention having to travel this same route if you wanted to go into Natchez for the day. Also access to the lake from your campsite is possible but only by small trails leading down to small sections of the lake which were overgrown. You could however get better access if you got in your car and drove to the public pier. Also, the hiking trails evidently had not been maintained well, although we never really used them because the park ranger told us when we checked in that they were closed. So, there you have it. Maybe the review would have been a little more positive at a different time of year or if the road construction had been completed.

Beautiful and serene. Nice camping facilities for rv and tent with clean bathhouse. Lighted boat launch, hiking, fishing, geocaching, and hunting. The cabins are comfy and even have cable tv. Short drive to restaurants and shopping. Drive slowly through the park because deer are abundant.
