Great little fort location, like many in the area the feds just abandoned this fort after World War 2 and was eventually fixed up by locals and donated to the state. They've got a cute little museum and a breakwater that is very accessible. Good place to bring a picnic and it's free unlike other nice spots nearby.

Very large areA with a small beach and fabulous views. Nice spot to visit for the views and history

The parking lot was closed for some reason when we got here but luckily we found a spot to park outside of the gate. There are quite a few opportunities to take pretty scenic pictures. It’s too bad that the building remains have been trashed (graffiti, furniture in the buildings from people camping out). I personally think there are better forts to visit that have been maintained.

Beautiful & interesting place to walk around. The old cells are very creepy but neat. You can even find sea glass on the beach, or bunnies running in the grass! ❤️

Last I went they were doing construction on the road but the park was open
So I went here about 3 months ago and this place was fun but it's in huge disrepair. I did notice some porta potties and equipment by the entrance so maybe they were going to start renovating some rough areas? I did not see anything on their website about this but I suppose it is possible. This is what I did find on their website. Operating Schedule The Visitor Center at Fort Stark State Historic Site will be open Thursday through Sunday, 10:00 am to 3:30 pm from Memorial Day until Labor Day. It is also open on federal holidays during this period. It has military artifacts and information about the 22nd Coastal Artillery which was headquartered at Fort Stark in New Castle during World War II. The area also has a walking trail with an information guide, a small beach and kayak access to the ocean and Little Harbor. There are no rest rooms and only limited parking.
