I highly DO NOT recommend this company. Let me tell you about my experience. Back in May of 2022, we signed the contract to have 12 accordion shutters installed with the contract including HOA and permit fee. First the owner, Robyn is faced with embezzlement from her CFO so we agreed to pay in advance for the materials as she was kind enough to reach out and explain her situation as well as provide documentation. Her contractors come out to install after a few months, beginning of September. The contractors and installers were wonderful, but not all of the shutters were installed as apparently two of my windows (arches) were not approved. This was a red flag as I was not aware of this until installation date. I was not willing to pay the entire installment amount as this was incomplete, so I paid a portion of it. After consistently trying to get in contact with Robyn, she assured us she would handle obtaining a permit for my window arches within two weeks. One month has passed and she calls us today after we kept calling her (terrible communication) to say we have to obtain the permit for our arch windows ourselves. She is too busy with other matters at the moment. She mentioned her contractor quit two days ago yet. She states we owe for a balance (note, we have paid completely for the materials but not completely for the installation). She is willing to refund the permit amount of $600 only if we pay her the installation which has not been done. We are NOT willing to have shutters installed without a permit as I stated to her. After a phone conversation with her today, she was disrespectful and rude, unwilling to negotiate and was adamant we pay her the installment changes of the two window arches which are NOT installed. She proceeds to state she is very busy with other tasks and there is nothing she can do to help us...(major red flag here). She then hangs us the phone (note, there no incidence of me yelling nor speaking with profanities as that is not who I am). Overall, very frustrating and owner holds no responsibility for the consumers. I informed her over the phone that I am willing to find another company to finish the job as long as she refunds the permit charge of $600 which was never taken care of. She did not want to discuss that without us paying what we "supposedly" owe her for window arches that have NO shutters within reach of them. I do not recommend this company. They seem to be on the verge of collapse and have already filed bankruptcy. I should have listened to the previous low star reviews. They had a point. :( I cannot believe how this business operates and treats its paying customers.

One of the worst companies I've ever had an experience with. Would not recommend. Poor customer service, difficult to make appointments, issues with installation. When they originally came out to install the window the workers asked for my microwave, if I had ibuprofen because they had a headache, and they originally took apart a sliding door I already had by mistake and had to put it back. Following this, I experienced water leaking underneath my hurricane proof shutters... during a normal rainy day. When we called to sort it out they asked for videos, which we provided and they informed us they'd send it to their contractor who would come out and fix it. They canceled dates they were supposed to come out, even though they advertise immediate help. When they finally made it out they only inspected the window and had me explain AGAIN what was happening even though we sent footage and were told they would be here to fix the problem. He left without having done anything to the sliding door. When I finally got them back out 3 weeks later, they tried to accuse me of being the problem for not "cleaning out the leaves" because if I don't the water will have no where to drain. It is a hurricane proof sliding door. If leaves will cause them to break and flood I think they have a bigger issue. After accusing me I hear one of the men whisper to the other "who was supposed to do this at install?" while caulking the door again. The whole experience was very off-putting and we will not be using again and recommend you don't either.

We have used Howen several times for garage door repairs, and they’ve always been prompt, reliable, professional and fairly priced. Helen, who answers the phone, is terrific. She always sounds calm and knowledgeable. Today, July 1, our neighbors had an emergency and Helen was able to get a repairman to their home quickly where he fixed the garage door and went on his way.

Updated review: Communication is poor to nonexistent. It takes several e mails/texts to get somebody to respond. They keep moving me from Department to department to get a simple answer to my question- when is it going to happen. I am still waiting for my installation (contract signed in Feb). I am more than little frustrated dealing with this company. . Every time I ended up talking to them all I get are excuses. Finally the Owner Robin called me and assured me that the project will be done next month. She explained me the reasons for the delay, which again points to the communication problem the staff of this company has. She was very pleasant and understanding. This was refreshing finally. Based on my conversation, I have increased my rating to 3 stars. I am keeping my fingers crossed. After the project is finished I will further update the review.
