I've never made an appointment and I've never spent more than about 45 from walking in the door to driving out of the parking lot.
I've never made an appointment for anything here, but depending on what the issue is, they may or may not be able to do the work required to get your vehicle to pass emissions. You may need to take it to a full service garage. I would call them to get those two questions answered.
