The resort was nice and well kept. Activities for the kids was much appreciated. However, the cabins we stayed in (9 & 10) need help. CABIN #9 Months worth of dust on ceiling fan above table; couldn’t use the fan because the dust and cobwebs were so gross! Bathroom-Shower curtain was dirty; should be cleaned or replaced. Sink wasn’t cleaned very well. Exhaust fan did not work. Shower curtain rod was bent, and we had to ask for a new one. Poor lighting throughout the entire cabin. Maybe a floor lamp or two in living area, and in the bedrooms The cabin was not cleaned very well. The rug just inside the door from outside very slippery and dangerous . 5 cup coffee pot is too small and was very slow to brew. Toaster won’t pop up toast unless you unplug it Poor lighting in all bedrooms One bedroom didn’t even have a working ceiling light. CABIN #10 Outside patio door does not close or open well Cigarette butts and garage outside patio door when we checked in. Food stuck on forks Tons of sand under rug in kitchen ************* Hot and cold water hoses switched on washing machine. We were washing in cold water, but it was actually washing in hot

The resort is ok, restaurant is way over priced and food is sub par at best. Don’t order the fried shrimp. It’s s $20 and you get 4 four tiny shrimp and a whole plate full of gross frozen corn. When asking the waitress about it she blew me off. My daughter and wife’s walleye sandwich fell apart the second she picked it up.

We had a great stay here at Appledoorns. The amenities and staff were top flight. We had One of their premier ice houses and it was perfect. Every issue we had with the ice house they fixed and fixed quickly. We came at a a time when the fish just Weren’t biting. But they can’t do anything about that. We stayed in cabins 9&10 and they were excellent. I can only imagine how sweet those cabins must be in the summer. Overall, we had such a great time and can’t wait to come back again soon! 12-02-21 I sent an email to Mariah asking if we could set up our food tasting so we can keep planning our wedding (well me lol). 12-06-21 I received an email from Ashley and she explained that Mariah was no longer with the company. I was also informed that Appeldoorn's was no longer doing a plated meal option...this is the first I am hearing about this! I have also been informed that the menu has slightly changed and the pricing has significantly changed! I instantly let Ashley know I was not okay with this, I asked to speak to the new manager Christine and this happened fairly fast. Christine was nice and I am truly trying to stay cool and not be that bride. After speaking I asked to give me a couple days to discuss everything happening with my personal coordinator. I also asked Ashly to send back a copy of my contract they had on file. Their contract is very basic, nothing about price changes on food, nothing about covid (booked a year after). So now food has more than doubled from my original menu pricing I was provided (at the buffet rates) I have all the original emails with all the information about anything that involved a price. I was given a price for a 2-meat buffet and it's not the price I was to go by when we signed our contract with a budget, it's also not as high as they are trying to charge. So this is where my 2 star rating is sitting at. The communication with them has been decent, I have a lot of details to go over to have my wedding continue being planned and unfortunately I cannot make some decisions until my food tasting which will be on 03-04-22. I plan to ensure that both ashley and christine will be there or at least I hope one of them is because I have a lot of worries and concerns and a ton of anxiety and money stress. I just feel sad because this venue is beautiful but this is not how you run a place for couples special days when there is already so much stress for them.
