Look, I know Carol’s has a loyal following of customers and they just love this place, so clearly they are doing something right. They cater to their crowd. I can only offer you my personal perspective and experience as a one and done customer. Had breakfast here, tried a variety of menu items. Food was basic, not impressive but ok. Environment is old and stale, dated, plain and just kind of bare. But honestly I think that’s what their customers like. I’m old, but I still didn’t fit in here. Again nothing wrong with that, just not my thing. Customers know each other, service very friendly from a “Melvin’s Diner” type of waitress, she knows all the regulars and running between tables because it’s understaffed, but she gets it done cheerfully. It was fine, was worth a try. Have passed by Carol’s for many years but never tried it because we knew what to expect. Just finally confirmed it.

Been here a couple times for lunch/dinner. First time this past weekend for breakfast. Got there at 9am and the place was SLAMMED the entire time we were there. Although we were still seated almost immediately, I'd confidently say this place is worth the wait. Food was excellent, portions were reasonable, service was top notch. We even had a person in our group who has Celiacs so has to be VERY strict. Both the gal who seated us - who seemed to be a manager - and our server were very patient and accommodating. And the sweet cream caramel rolls?? Massive and mouth watering. This is a must have, but get there early as these don't last forever! Definitely recommend Carol's, certainly for breakfast, probably for lunch and dinner as well (don't remember these experiences).

Deep fried cheese curds and walleye were delicious. Big walleye filet, lightly beer battered served with potatoes, cabbage and carrots. The roll was made with beer and walnuts, very good!

Nice little restaurant and gift shop in the upper end of town. Pristine neat, orderly, and welcoming. It has nice personal decor touches like Valances in the windows, and Tiffany- look lampshades all colorful and quietly elegant. The menus reminded you of diners gone by a single page of treats. My friend who is a regular suggested the senior sized Eggs Benedict with hash browns. It was just the right portion size. I was so hungry and so side tracked that I didn't even take pictures.
