I believe this a wonderful place that does great things for wildlife BUT. I brought a six and injured squirrel in after hours last week. There were 3 interns there to help. I was crying hysterically because I was so parried about this little baby. This horribly rude “intern” maybe 21 yea old spoke to me like I was apiece of trash. No empathy, zero kindness. Spoke down t me and attempted to workman’s me for trying t hep this squirrel. She continually started naming off multiple issues he could have, very rudely and basically blaming me for them all. Again I am still crying. I am 40 years old, anima lover, foster, rehabilitator, rescuer. I am not unintelligent or stupid as I was treated. I wish I would have gotten your name. But the nose ring hanging down will be a giveaway of who I am speaking of. You should not have spoke to me the way you did. You don’t know me. You should be ashamed of yourself, and the company should be very embarrassed that are so very rude. You are supposed to help!!! Horrible horrible employee

A wonderful place. Please donate because if it wasn't for your donations this animal sanctuary wouldn't exist. A big heartfelt thank you to all the donors.

It's beautiful there and such a good feeling to drive up to it and see the animals and then get out of the car and just hear nature. The employees there are nice, very caring and attentive to all the animals needs. They never seem to get impatient or upset with them even if they have to chase the some of the animals around to put them where they need to be. Warms my heart knowing there are places like this out there who are there to rescue animals and give them the life of love and care.

Unfortunately, it is against the law to feed deer in Illinois. While this may seem cruel, there are many reasons this law was enacted. The biggest is spreading of diseases. This is our best effort to reduce the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease. CWD is an ALWAYS-fatal neurological disease found in deer, elk and moose that causes them to become emaciated, display abnormal behavior, lose coordination and die. As animal lovers, do we always agree with what is "best" or what we see as cruel? No, but is it better to have healthy populations of deer. We also have to worry about the food chain as CWD has proven to remain in carcasses for a long time. Please see the pdf provided by IL Department of Natural Resources for an more in depth explanation. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwiNzZ7cn471AhVZZc0KHUCyDpYQFnoECAsQAw&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww2.illinois.gov%2Fdnr%2FOI%2FDocuments%2FOct10DeerBaits.pdf&usg=AOvVaw3yJ-r99pOdFzJoX9a74HhV

TreeHouse Wildlife Center's outdoor grounds reopened daily to the public on Dec. 30, 2020, from 10am-4pm. The Education Center is still closed, therefore there is no restroom facilities available for visitors. We also ask that social distancing be respected outside. Please help us by following our guidelines and be kind to our staff and volunteers as we navigate through the requirements placed by state and federal guidelines. We need to ensure we do not jeopardize any state or federal permits that could result in permanently closing our facility. We hope to be back to normal visiting hours soon. We will be reevaluating our policies weekly. Thank you!
The the result severe weather, we are getting lots of phone calls. If you have an animal emergency please keep trying or leave a voicemail if you get through to that. Take a look at the Riverlands Audubon Center facebook page.
Yes it is common. Fawns do not have a scent and lay low during the day to keep predators away. The mom visits at night and feeds the young.
Yes. We met Adele while we were that.
