I could write about the longest wait in history, but I’d rather comment on my positive contact once inside. I was assisted by Debbie who was friendly, patient and answered all my questions without asking me to come back or get into a different line. So thankful she understood my needs and assisted me. DMV has a bad rep, but kudos to Debbie for kabooshing that theory.

Read this, it may help you! When you arrive at this location, there will be a line, that doesn't seem to be moving... 1. Anything car/vehicle related (title, sticker renewal, etc.) just go to the front of the line and ask the person there if you can go into the vehicles section. There is a separate section just for vehicle services with a whole other line that you must wait in. I didn't know that, and so I stood outside for 15 minutes before a person came by instructing people of where to go. Also, when I was there, there was a special line just for sticker renewal, so that helped some people. But there are no signs for this and I'm not sure if they are always doing that. 2. If you are looking for driver's license services look into the St. Charles location (it's literally a 20 minute drive from there). This is a brand-new location that opened, and when I went there a month ago to get a license for this state, there was no line, and I was in and out of there in 15 minutes. Please NOTE, this place doesn't offer all types of services, so go to the Secretary of State website to see what services they offer. This may help you, so you don't have to wait in this long line at this Elgin location. Also, be prepared that all seniors, disabled individuals, etc., go to the front of the line. So, when there were only 3 people in front of me in the line, I still stood in line for 40 minutes because the seniors have the right of way. In total, I spent 1.5 hours in different lines to get IL plates for my car. I watched 3 workers go on breaks during this time. And one lady was yelling at people every few minutes or so, including yelling at disabled people who were going to the front of the line.

Got there at 6am for a real ID. Left at 8:30. Show up early. Lines build fast. Especially on Tuesdays and Fridays. Be ready to wait longer for a real ID. They don't call you in the order you are in line in. They will take your photo. Bring a mask. Documents must have FULL social, not just last 4.

I got lucky and managed to make an appointment last week for today. Waited in line for like 15 minutes before someone came to see what everyone was there for. So I got to skip the line and go directly inside, still a bit of a wait, but in the end i was in and out in about 1 hour. They should try to make it clear that you can go inside for appointments so that you don't have to wait in line, otherwise wasn't too bad of an experience

I thought linglenn 234 was kidding. I thought that seemed like a lot. Be sure you bring all of that. Bring more than you think you'll need. Bring scrap of paper that has your name on it. If you don't have the proper offerings, Jesse White will watch you wait for hours then laugh in your face when you ask him to renew your Class D driver's license.
I can not call the number that appears
Do we need an appt to get id
150$ i hear.
That depends on what kind of licence plate are gonna get.
Any weekday early in the morning. Weekends are a nightmare.
A form from doctor
196 dollars plus a 25 dollar tax credit.
They open at 8 on Thursday
Basic road signs, speed limits, what to do if a pedestrian, and yields
You can get ipass at stores like Jewel. Easier to go there
Yes on Tuesday and Wednesday
You can probably Google it or call your lawyer
(312) 793-1010
Elgin doesn't do appointments yet so it's first come first served. Got there around 11 and the line was small. You need to make sure you bring everything and then some for your real id.
I think mine took a month
No just have to stand in line remember the office is not open on Monday
It is, for drivers license and ID go to door on left side of parking lot near 31. For plates and such go to door on the right. If you're unsure go to the door and ask before getting in line. The staff was friendly and helpful.
You need to go to the Illinois secretary of state official website. There's plenty of information on the website.
You can apply online from your home
Yes u can get it for free just call them and get the application (6469266614)
To replace your Illinois driver's license: Visit an Illinois SOS office. Provide proof of your signature, date of birth, social security number, and residence. Pay the $ 5 duplicate driver's license fee.
Is just bring your expired ID and your and any bill with your name and address if not you birth certificate.
West Chicago
I think they take debit now as well. So, should be cash, check, or debit
Get title in hand with recipe from seller. And apply in your home state .
There's another DMV in Woodstock. North of 47 and 14, I've never been there but I hear it's less busy.
You can do either. If you decide to dispose of them yourself make sure you cut them up so they can't be used if picked out of the garbage or recycling.
Don't know. You might Google you question to find out.
What other tests
It likely depends on how many years since you've taken one. I believe it's every 8 years. The website has a pdf with all the info you need
No need sir
We went on a Thursday around lunchtime two weeks ago. No line outside. We walked right in and were out in 10 minutes. It was the middle of the month, which might have helped.
They do! They charged me $30 for change of address.
Yes but there is an additional fee.
At the Elgin facility the elderly, handicapped people, Vets and pregnant women or people renewing license plates do not have to stand in line. There is a sign directing people in these categories to a side door for faster service.
Yes, right side entrance
They should send you a Letter.
That depends on if you are renewing a Real ID DL or a regular DL. If a Real ID DL needs to be renewed you need two documents showing your address is the current one listed on your DL. Also, if you are not a US Citizen, you will need your Permanent Resident Card as well. If a Regular DL (not Real ID) is being renewed, you need one document showing your address is your current one listed on your DL.
No
Just go to DMV and have it changed. For even faster service and where you don't have to wait on long lines the same service can be done at your local currency exchange for a small fee.
No
Check the doc requirements on the DMV website.
The required documents are all defined on the DMV website
If you're from out of state and looking for additional information on address change, visit cyberdriveillionois.com
You dont need an appointment thi just an FYI
I believe 16 for test and 15 for permit test but not sure if some school hours are needed
Easier to go to the Currency Exchange
The State charges $151 plus fees if you use a credit card
At the facility
Free if stolen, $10 to correct, $20 for new state ID. $5 if under 18and free if 65 or older. Real ID is $5 if license expires more than a year or $30 if under a year.
No. You don't have to make an appointment, but you must have a license. By the way, a man was asking for that but he had no lucency and they couldn't help him. If I didn't hear correctly, it is $ 12 that is paid in the bank.
I don't know that. I went to get my license for the 1st time and I did not find out but they had forgiven renewing.
It depends what business are you there for. ID's, DL's etc you do. Stickers you don't
No, you have to go there and make an appointment. It is usually an hour and a half later depending on when you get there.
It looks like you can based on their website "Address Change" https://apps.ilsos.gov/addrchange/
At present there is no option to take appointment from home. You have to go there take appointment and come back 5 minutes before appointment time. This is far better than waiting in the snow for couple of hours. May be in the near future, you will be able to take appointment from home
You have to go to a facility where there is a short line to set your appointment. Bring your phone as they have you scan a bar code to bring up the scheduling site.
I think you need to make an appointment and it will depend on road and weather conditions.
It seemed like a relatively safe environment and I believe they are letting older people go to the entrance on the right for these services to skip the line. If you absolutely need it just use a mask and sanitizer. If you don't NEED it is wait to be vaccinated. There are no guarantees. Good luck to you.
1). What do I need to bring to renew my driver's license T641-7895-7742 I would like to come in tomorrow I renew it! 2). Why couldn't I allowed to renew it electronically? Thanks for the information in advance, Stella Tahrilova 312-498-7798
They are all closed until mid December
You need to get it now and they raised the price to $151
$151 they totally jacked up the price
I think it is $20..
Go to any facility with your matricula or passport
If you have driver education completed from the school bring transcript also. Otherwise if you have completed 6 hour class, bring the completion certificate. If your permit expired after March this year, you can go for driving test. If it expired before March, do all test, vision, written and drive. But always go there before 2 am as they may cut driving test early
You can go to the front of Line
Yes
For now they are not asking for anything. You only carry the expired license and pay for the new one.
No
Make sure the employees outside know you are coming just for title and plates. This got us a huge line jump. You need a check or a money order for the taxable portion of your transaction. (We didn't have it and had to leave and come back). They will not accept cash or debit/credit card. For the remainder of the fees you can use a credit/debit card. Make sure the title is signed by whomever sold or gifted you the vehicle.
I think is important to be a donor everything that is good to be useful for someone that is needy
Depends on the mail, I had discover and geico bill and statements. They didn't accept either one. The thing that did work for me is an electronic bank statement that I had to look up and find on my phone
$30-50 if I remember correctly
Why did you need one first of all? Maybe because you don't have a driver license? Maybe you need to pro e who you are?
After July 31st they will start allowing people to renew that haven't expired yet.
Yes they are
My license expires April 1. I am a senior and must take the driving test. I can’t get to DMV until after April 1 is there a week grace period without penalty? What is the extended time frame.
Proof of address like a bill that shows where you live and bring the driver's license that's going to expire. Social security card also.
It all depends on what it is you need to do at the office.
Alot Bring about $300
Tuesday and Wednesday
No grace period. She can try again tomorrow or next working day
Bring your exp DL, second form of id, a utility bill and your check book. Probably have to take an exam again? Idk?
I've heard the max limit is 1 year before expiration date. I've never heard of renewing by mail ~ I could be wrong.
Not sure. Id say go by your original issue date. Might be a good idea to stop in and verify.
Yes. If you don't have a valid permit you have to take vision and written test on top of road.
Check the official website for hours.. Not Google
You'll need a letter stating you paid off the loan, if you had one. Otherwise, just fill out a request for duplicate
Title...
You just have to tell them you need to replace your lost driving permit. Bring your birth certificate, social security card, and proof of residence just in case. I'm not too sure if they'll ask for that but it's best to be prepared. Also, have cash in hand on you. You will have to pay for a new permit. Fortunately, this process is usually very fast.
Yes
If you didnt get safe driver renewal form... Yes.
Old licence and money
Two forms of id with your Current address, ie mail, lease, voters card if its current, but mail cant be older than 60 days. Picture id but the expired one works for that requirement. Its 30$ for new lic., at least it was 30 five yrs ago. They take cash debit credit. Maybe checks, unsure.
Minimum age is 16
https://cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/drivers/drivers_license/home.html. click on acceptable identification
Yes.
what tipes of documents I need to show and they need make any inspection of the vehicle
It depends on the type of plate you get and whether it be for a car or a truck so there's two different amounts for different types of plates so that's a tough question to answer
Under 18 - $10. Between 18-64 - $20. 65+ free. Also disable ID is free
If you have your out of state dl and it is not expired over 1 year you are only require to take a vision and written test.
If you already have an ID ( not getting one FIRST time! ) you bring your birth certificate and if you are changing address some mail with your name on it and your are good to go.
No.You have to register your car in illinois.
To get a duplicate ? Yes! 👍
Call 847-289-2573
All depends which extention are we talking about and if you had one before.
No just study for the written test and practice driving before you go to the DMV.
A piece of mail showing your name with the new address and proof of id.
Ford focus 2010 I live in Elgin
Valid passport or matricula. Acceptable documents from the last 90 days and 365 days, car insurance if you are planning to take a road test.
Yes you can.
Your old license i.d., cash or credit card (additional charge for cc). Or 2-3 forms of identification preferably with picture if you lost your driver's license or i.d. card.
To complete the Illinois vehicle registration process: Visit your local SOS office. Bring the vehicle title, proof of car insurance, odometer disclosure statement, and an Application for a Vehicle Transaction (Form VSD 190). Pay between$101 and $114 for your registration fee, $95 title fee, and taxes.
To replace your Illinois driver's license: Visit an Illinois SOS office. Provide proof of your signature, birth date, SSN, and residency. Pay the $5 duplicate driver's license fee. In the event that you misplace your Illinois driver's license, or it is stolen from you, you'll need to obtain a new one from the Illinois Secretary of State. You are allowed 3 replacements annually, and the SOS cannot issue a single person more than 10 replacements in their lifetime.
She can transfer the plates only if she receives a release of lien ..you might as well buy new plates and title for the new car. You cannot use plates that are not registered to the vehicle being driven.
Yes. You can renew your DL 1 year early and tvdl 3 months early.
If you already had an ID and is still valid + have the right address you only need ss card. But if your ID is expired for over 1 year and address is incorrect you will need a B certificate + ss card and proof of mail. You mentioned prison ID, you can use release papers as a proof of address.
I think there is one on certin days so its best to call and ask.
A brand new Illinois identification card will be valid for 5 years and will cost: $20 if you are 18 years old or older (till 64 years). $10 if you are under 18 years old. If you're over 65 years, homeless, or disabled, good news, it's FREE!
Like the others said (plate # or ID) plus cash in American currency or credit card which will have an additional fee attached to it.
Yes. $5 on DL and $10 on ID if you have the ID with you, if you don't have it it's $20
I am almost positive that they have just two days off.
Tuesday 8-5:30. Wednesday 8-5
$20. if you already had one $10.
$20 , under 18-$10, above 65-free
I understand you paid off a title loan in 2002 or 2003 and never received the title back. The loan company was supposed to send you the title when you paid the loan off not the Secretary of State. By not following up over the last few years you screwed yourself. Secretary of State computer records will continue to reflect a lienholder on the title and they will not give you a title until you give them proof you paid it off.
Yes you do .
Yes its true there is none
Yes you need an appointment and make sure there is nothing wrong with the car your going to drive for the test and it has insurance.
True and they are usually held by the county of birth.

It depends on how much you bought the car for . The state taxes you on the money you payed for it .
No. Emissions testing is not required to register a vehicle in Illinois. However older vehicles do need to get regular emissions tests every 2 years to renew your license plate sticker.
Yes but i would call and ask to make sure. You know how the laws are always changing.
Did you move to Oklahoma. Or from ? If your in Oklahoma well you have to take the written test and and then drive but if your in Elgin and your license hasn't expired and u remember your # that would help if not you have to pay for a new one .
