Most of their numbers are disconnected or outright WRONG. Their website is garbage, for people who dont want people to come see them in person for services they dont try very hard to make it that way. They do the exact opposite and force you to come in person to get even the simplest questions answered.

The receptionist has great energy and was super helpful. Other than the fact they subrogate when you apply for benefits. So as long as you are on the benefit recieving end they are on your side. If you are not recieving benefits they are super agressive and have all the resources of the state to make you pay. It's helpful to have public help as a backup plan, but it seems that lazy people take advantage of it and abuse the system when they should just get a job. When you need help they do it.

This review is regarding the Dept. of Public Assistance and the Medicaid AND Medicaid Expansion programs here in Montana. This program/department is currently a mess. I don't know if it is like this in other states, but here in Montana, and more specifically, Missoula, it is terrible. Where do I start. The website (apply.mt.gov) is a mess. Whoever they paid to design it needs to be fired and replaced with somebody competent. I have experienced numerous problems over the past 2 years with this website. Most recently, today, I tried to apply. I already have an e-pass account, so I logged in and started a new application. First it asks you for your personal information, then it asks about other people in your household. After entering all of this information, it now will not let me move on to the next section of the application. It is staying on the "People in Your Home" section, as if it is assuming that I have more people in my home to enter. There is nowhere on the screen, no button that I can click, that allows me to say that I am done entering this information, so that I can move onto the next section. It is as if whoever designed this website does not really want people to be able to apply for assistance. I have had issues in the past as well. The website is supposed to tell you who in your household is currently receiving assistance. Both of my kids have healthy Montana kids, but this shows up nowhere when I log into my account. It is supposed to show all paperwork that has been mailed to you regarding your case, which it doesn't show. Next, whatever data system or program the office of public assistance is using to keep track of information regarding each member, whether it be a change in income, a new job, a question about why my insurance was cancelled, needs to be changed. There method or keeping track of data sucks! I will go in to the Palmer office, have a conversation with a staff member regarding my case, they will tell me the issue has been solved. I will come back a week later because the issue has not been solved, and they will have no information in their system about my previous visit, and therefore, I will have to start all over again. It is infuriating! Get it together Office of Public Assistance! All of the different parts of the Medicaid and Medicaid Expansion program need to communicate with each other, or the system doesn't work!

There simply are not enough staff OR theyre intentionally moving at a snails pace. I even complained in person one day about how there is literally never anyone answering the phones when I call & on hold for hours and when I request a call back it never comes & she said yep duh laughingly tells me that’s how it is deal with it. I ended up being there for 2 1/2 hrs that day. Which 2 hrs is avg. *EDIT*: I was gonn rail on about how rude & callous & sometimes incompetent they are, but it's not all of them that are that way. To be Fair, alot of them DO help where they can & its a demanding tough job so I gotta give them some credit. Please just do something about that horrid phone system & wait time & remember to & a lil compassion to your routine at your job in the humanities ;) ok, TY.
