So glad the City bought and is running this service. The compost is the best for a healthy green lawn and productive flower beds. Just wish they would expand it to demand all onetime use take out packaging to be required to be compostable. Instead of sending those big dumpsters filled with beer or coffee cups after a fest or farmer's market to the landfill, they could be turned into useable compost in a matter of months.

Missoula's own Green New Deal! Re-cyling at its BEST. A fabulous "Green" compost alternative offered by Missoula, especially when the city and county are trying to reduce fires and unnecessary air pollution. Of course you can't please all the people all the time......those who complain are directed to wait in line at the landfill at a cost of 5 times more than the same truck load at GC Compost.

4 year old post below, just wanted to say thank you again for the feedback everyone! Any questions about our facility, operations, product or if you would like to schedule a tour please get ahold of us. I have had the pleasure of working at EKO for 21 years. Our team here is very excited as pre-existing employees to be with the City now and see the positive changes daily around the facility and hearing mostly positive feedback. EKO started charging again for loads being dropped off back in 2011. It costs a pretty penny to grind all this material up. Our facility is not tax based at all by the way. We are under the wing of the Wastewater Treatment Plant. We are terribly sorry for any inconvenience anyone has experienced in the initial setup of getting this place back on its feet again and living up to the potential it has had for a long time. Please continue to use the facility as we are proud to be a leader in sustainability in such a beautiful community. Thank you very much for all of your feedback. We are still trying to get EKO to pull down their old website and are open Monday- Saturday 9 am to 6 pm. Loading Compost until 4 pm daily. Thank you very much to everyone in the surrounding area for your patience in the beginning of this season. We are very excited for things to come.
