My dog has been a patient at UA vet hospital for the last few years. Overall, we’ve had a decent experience (flexibility in scheduling urgent care visits, attentive doctors, etc)….until recently. During our most recent visit, we were placed in a surgical/dental suite in the basement (my dog was not there for anything of that nature, just a skin infection). At first, I didn’t complain when I saw that the room was covered in tufts of fur. When I noticed the blood smears on the floor a bit later, however, I asked to be moved to another room— preferably one that had been cleaned— as I have an immunocompromised dog. The second suite was cleaner than the first, but I still feel really disgusted by the fact that my dog had been lying on a floor that wasn’t disinfected following a surgical procedure. Moreover, it has been increasingly difficult to schedule urgent care visits (“urgent care appointments” are only available on certain days, and you have to call right at 8:00 the day-of because they book on a “first call first serve” kind of basis.) This has resulted in my dog’s visits getting delayed by several days. I would not recommend taking your dog here. Edit: I appreciate the response, Dr. Parson. Thank you for your best wishes. It doesn’t seem that UA accepts responsibility for the the unclean conditions on that day, which is disappointing, but I hope that this occurrence was a fluke and not the norm, as you have expressed.
