One of the best parks in the city of Baton Rouge. The facilities are excellent, with a bike race track, dirt bike track (limited hours), skate park, gymnasium, climbing wal (currently closed, unclear when it will be reopening)l, running trails, fishing pond, big kids playground, little kids playground at the far end, forest dirt bike trail, workout stations, picnic tables and pavilions, and sports fields. This is a really nice neighborhood park. With trails to walk and bike, ground to play soccer and baseball, and kids zone. This is my favorite place to walk my dog.

The best park in Baton Rouge! Access to the Greenway, fishing pond, bmx bike trail, skateboard park, velodrome, rock climbing wall, and the list goes on. Fantastic place, extremely well maintained by the staff. Don’t miss it!

The picture does no show a lot of detail; however, the picture is consistent with the pond at Pennington Biomedical Research Center which is basically next door. I do not know what is at BREC but PBRC has a park type area, walking trails, and a pond. People are welcome to walk, relax, bring their dogs, etc. BUT there are two caveats: NO FISHING and within the fenced area around the pond, have your dog leashed or Extremely Well Trained -- esp. when the geese/ducks have babies. Security there will flip if your dog frightens or chases mommies or babies.
They must be talking about Dawson Creek by the kid's softball area.
I think it's officially open dawn to dusk, but there are lights so people are often there after sunset. I have not seen security or the park rangers tell people to leave, but I am never there much after dark.
Closed Monday. Tuesday - Thursday 5-9pm. Friday rental 6-8pm. Saturday rental 10:30-12:30, and 1:30-3:30. Saturday open ride 4-9pm. Sunday rental 12-2pm, open ride 3-6pm. This is from the sign at the facility on 11/11/2017.
