Rod and Gun Campground - Black Hills National Forest

This is a small campsite immediately off the road (that is commonly used for ATVing). The campsite has small sites most suitable for tents. If you have an RV or trailer under 25' in length, you also will find several sites here that will work for you. This is a no frills campground in that there's a vault toilet and water, but nothing else. There is a small creek that runs on the edge of the campground. There is a picnic table and fire ring with each site. No firewood is available for sale. Note, if you have an RV or trailer over 30' in length, you will have a difficult time finding a suitable spot here or even an ability to turn around. With a 31' trailer, it was very difficult to turn around and barely fit into campsite 6. Campsite 7 is probably the best site. Cost is $18/night per site.

Beautiful campground, peaceful. We were in site #7 which is situated next to the creek. Fell asleep each night to the sound of the water and cool air coming in the windows. Rimrock hiking trail cuts through campground and was an awesome hike with stunning views and scenery, if your so inclined.

Found this campground by accident and we are so glad we did! It’s nestled in part of a canyon right next to a creek. Perfect spot with only a few parking spots available. Remember to bring everything you need since you won’t be close to any stores.
