I don’t remember the scheduler’s name at ARA but she was very compassionate. I was feeling terrible but she was patient and explained where I would be able to get my STAT testing completed. Thank you

So I arrived to ARA for my 8:40AM appointment. Got to the parking garage at 8:30, long line, malfunction of gate got me walking in around 8:43. I was told my appointment was cancelled. I was rescheduled for 2PM and waited until 2:40 to get seen. I described my symptoms and a nurse made a joke about going spontaneously deaf being better than having tinnitus (my current symptom). Overall I would say quality of care was poor.

When I first was diagnosed with prostate cancer, the process was unsettling. I saw my urologist, who stuck his index finger up my backside after reviewing my PSA test. I saw his MA, who stuck her finger up my backside after reviewing my PSA retest. I saw a radiologist and a surgeon, who each did their finger up my backside, while we decided upon what treatment course would be best for me. It wasn't the probulating fingers that were unsettling, I'm an Aggie and watch Dr. Pol often, it was the uncertainty of what lay ahead for me that was of concern. ARA Diagnostic Imaging provided what I needed most, answers to dispell my uncertainty. Their scans checked my prostate better than any of the fingers with less intrusiveness, helped with the biopsy analysis, measured and located the gel insert and the gold pellets used for targeting my radiation treatment without scorching my rectum, and today checked me head to thigh for any spread of the cancer cells using a PET-CT with a radioactive marker dye. I didn't gain any superpowers from all the positrons and x-rays and magnetic fields and dyes withhalf lives. This isn't a comic book story. But now I can start treatment next week, sure in the knowledge that my treatment is tailored for maximum success because of the imaging techniques ARA provided. Thanks!
