Since moving to Treasure Valley from Utah Valley, I've been looking for a recreation area within a short drive of the cities here. It's great to have finally found one. It might not be a natural lake in a pine forest, but it is a great outdoor getaway that doesn't involve two hours of carbon emissions to get to. The park at the bottom of the dam is great for everyone, and extended family with a boat offered to give us the reservoir experience. It was a pleasant surprise to see all the lakeside camping around the reservoir; something I don't think reservoirs back in Utah have.

Took a drive in early spring just to get out of town for a bit and ended up at Lucky Peak. Stopped at the marina for a walk and to take a closer look. Of coarse water level is way down in anticipation of the coming snow runoff. It was still pretty neat to see. Great facilities for boat dockage and summer fun time. Beautiful scenery and there are some great hiking paths.

Nice small State Park on the river just below the dam. Very peaceful setting. $5 honor system entry fee. Not a large park but well kept up and quite scenic. Plenty of parking. Lots of shade. Dog friendly. Barbeque pits.

As far as i know the marina charges 5 dollars a day and has two boat ramp locations
If you have your Idaho Parks pass (only $10!) it's free, otherwise $5 day use.
Yes, we take our dog. She plays in the sand, swims a goes on the boat.

Not sure about the State Park but there are a couple of campgrounds next to the lake.
max creek area is accessible by car and boat both it's east of spring shores area before arrowrock
