Wow, an incredible experience! While I would have enjoyed a good clear day for views, instead we were treated to an experience in the clouds. Due to the elevation, wind and sun blocked out, it was much cooler than I thought it would be. Bringing a jacket just in case is advised.

The walk is ok... The signs are good placed all 0.5 miles. What really pi...ed me of was thet RV Parking is not allowed. We asked in the Touricentre about the path and told them that we have camper, they said nothing. I guess they do not know it. We had to take a Spot at the campground there then. Our camper is 19 feet long so we fit easily in the spot. That stupid sign. I would rather recommend mount LaConte. Nicer view and walk. Still, at the top there is, with luck, a nice view and the place is well marked so still 2 maybe 3 stars.

Mt. Mitchell Trailhead the top is an awesome hike. 6 mile with ~4000ft elevation gain. 12 mile round trip (unless you have someone meet you at the top). Late March we had continous great views since most trees didn't have leaves. Once there are leaves you will have limited views but still a great hike! Highly recommended hike. I would not recommend for beginners, kids or people with bad knees. Keep in mind it is typically 10-20 degrees colder at the top than at the bottom.

The hike to Mt Mitchell is absolutely stunning but something you need to be adequately prepared for. Ice was thick in many places making passage on the trail more difficult than normal, but the view at the top is certainly worth it!
