Our hardwood floors were buckling from water damage. We were put on the schedule quickly & Josh & Jordan came out right at time scheduled. They hooked up all the equipment & blocked off the area expertly, carefully moving everything that needed to be moved. They returned each day right at designated time to check progress. Thankfully, the floors returned to normal! I have nothing but good things to say. Josh & Jordan were professional yet friendly & very pleasant to work with. They also moved everything back to original places when done. Would definitely use them again! Deborah - Greenville SC

Mickey and the team at Rainbow Restoration are phenomenal. After a cross country move and 18 months of storage, I had several family heirloom antiques that had sustained water damage to the point that mold had made the pieces unrecognizable. Additionally, several pieces of furniture were severely damaged by the movers. Mickey and Rainbow Restoration transformed and refurbished my heirloom pieces to their former beauty. Their prices are reasonable, they are responsive and on time, and their work is superb. I highly recommend Rainbow Restoration!

Here are a few key areas to look for water damage in your home: 1) Examine pipes under sinks & behind toilets. Corrosion around connections indicates hidden water damage. 2) Inspect the water heater, washer, dishwasher, garbage disposal, & refrigerator. Look for hoses wear, leaks near the water supply, & defective pipe connections. 3) Walking barefoot can expose underlying problems such as wet carpets, minor bends in vinyl floor coverings, & slight warps in hardwood floors. 4) Water damage isn't always evident behind the walls. What appears to be a dirty area could be stained by a leaking pipe. Other warning symptoms include blistered paint, peeling wallpaper, & hairline drywall cracks. 5) The most common water damage indicators in the ceiling are stains. Check for roof leaks if an attic inspection reveals moldy insulation or stains on supporting beams. 6) A great tool for spotting water damage is your sense of smell. A distinctive odor comes from damp walls, floors, & carpets.
Most home insurance policies cover mold only if it results from a covered damage event, such as accidental water damage. So mold caused by a burst pipe or an appliance suddenly malfunctioning, for example, could be covered by insurance. Some insurance companies have a cap on the amount they will pay for mold removal. So you may still need to cover some of the costs, even if your policy accepts your claim. Every insurance carrier and policy is different. It is up to you to read and thoroughly understand the extent of your coverage. Your insurer may offer additional coverage options to help with damage. If you find mold, it is crucial to take fast action to prevent its spread by eliminating any water source feeding it. Then call a professional water damage and mold remediation company, such as Rainbow International, to inspect the affected area and develop a plan of action to restore the health of your home.
Drying out water damage is not always straightforward, and often what appears dry is not. Most moisture is often hidden in the walls and flooring, so it's critical to identify and dry all the affected areas to prevent mold growth. Homeowner's typically try to dry out water-damaged areas using fans and wet-dry vacuums. However, these areas tend to never fully dry out simply because they don't have the proper tools to detect hidden pockets of mold-growing wet areas nor industrial-strength air movers and dehumidifiers to pull the moisture out of wet building materials. Mold can grow quickly after a flood, usually within 24 to 48 hours, so it is best to take action fast. Our certified technicians will bring in specialized equipment, ensure the area is clean and dried properly, and even repair the damages inflicted, such as replacing drywall and minor or extensive structural repairs.
Cooking fires are the most common, causing almost HALF of all residential fires. Heaters, faulty electrical, improper smoking etiquette, unattended candles, flammable chemicals, and Christmas trees are also common causes.
Typically, mold will not grow on concrete floors as mold needs moisture and an organic food source to thrive. Keeping your concrete floor clean, dry, and moisture-free will prevent microbial growth from forming.
The likelihood of mold growth is the main issue when dealing with any kind of water damage. If the wet areas are not completely dried, mold may start to form. Anyone who breathes in mold might suffer health effects, but people with allergies, asthma, and/or compromised immune systems are particularly vulnerable.
Even a small leak that seems harmless could lead to problems. Water quickly penetrates floors, walls, soft furnishings, and other surfaces. If water damage is ignored for an extended period, your insurance may not pay for the repairs, which could be expensive. Mold and mildew can form and spread throughout your home if building materials aren't dried correctly. Any cleanup and water damage restoration should happen as soon as possible. Contact a water damage restoration expert within 24 to 48 hours to reduce the danger of structural damage and the growth of mold.
Usually, excess water in a property will dry up on its own within a week or two. The issue with doing so is that there is a higher chance that mold and other health risks will appear. It is in your best interest to focus on accelerating the drying process because even clean water can result in costly furniture damage and a higher risk of health problems. The normal water damage should be dried in 3 to 5 days by a skilled disaster restoration company such as Rainbow International of Greenville SC.
