Yet again I’m trying to contact Newton County Tax Comm. office. I called at 2:05PM (they re-open after lunch at 2:00, per the notice I received), no answer left a voicemail. Called again at 4:30PM, no answer left another voicemail. I call the phone number for New County that ends in 3030 vs 2020 (called prior) and selected the option for tags. The phone was answered “Hello” I asked if I was speaking to Newton Co. she said Yes, I stated I needed to speak with someone about cancelling my tag. She said I will have to come in. When I explained I moved 2-states away, she said one moment… and then hung up on me. I called back, and there was no answer. I’ve now received two fines in the mail, when my insurance company has already provided them with proof of insurance. I had to have FL insurance to get a FL license and request the title transfer. My car is now registered in FL and I need to know how to cancel my tag, and of course for the fees to be removed, but I can’t get any help from anyone at the New County Tax Commissioners office. This is NOT public service, and something needs to be done. This is not the first time I’ve had this issue it’s the second time in less than a month.
Me Yesh
I feel that we shouldn't have to keep paying taxes over and over again on something that was purchased already! The taxes are out of this world ridiculous!

I was in and out in 20 minutes.

My property taxes were overpaid back in December by over $1,300. I have been trying to get it refunded for the last couple months. I have called repeatedly and no one ever answers the phone. I have made two trips to the office to talk to someone and still I cannot get the money return to me. They acknowledged it was overpaid but still cannot refund to me yet. They keep putting it off.

Do you have to pay school tax after age 72?
Can I get a copy of my estimated tax bill on-line? I have misplaced the one that was sent and have looked everywhere, I will be coming in to appeal the projected bill, Thank you.
My not so good memory is that we receive our tax bills in Late July for 2021. I haven't received my bill and am trying to plan money flow. When should I expect the bill?
It does sound like you would qualify for what is called the double homestead exemption, it is a much larger exemption, for people over 65.
Yes, you can pay online.
It's 65 unless you are disabled.
Yes sometimes property is unique so proximity is valuable. A county line makes little difference.
Look up the Newton county tax assessor's web page the prompts will show your property information it even has a map of your property.
