I attempted to go by last week- there are signs of the main road from Dothan but after the left turn, there are no signs to direct you to the facility- wondered about that. Surely the shelter would make every attempt to direct the public to the facility to possibly adopt a pet. The shelter is completely isolated - none one ever know it was there. I finally found it. I opened my car door and the first thing was the horrific smell. I was shocked. I imagined a nice, clean environment- the smell was overwhelming . As I got out of the car, all I could hear were dogs howling in distress- it was awful. I walked inside- the horrific smell inside too. The workers were rude and less than helpful. They acted like I was bothering them for even showing up. I was there to donate items- they pointed toward a wall- just put it there. No thank you, nothing- didn’t even acknowledge me. Walked out- drove to the animal shelter- the same thing- asked if people could volunteer- they said no. The dogs were howling- the place stunk, and I wondered, this place is so isolated, no one would ever know how these people are treating these animals that didn’t ask to be there- broke my heart- i walked to my car- looked at all the big dogs outside in this heat in cages next to woods- mosquitoes- rats- who knows- obviously this facility is not being monitored - thought I was doing a good thing donating- but left devastated!!!

The staff seemed to be more interested in hearing themselves talk versus explaining to the customer what kind of dogs they had for adoption. There was a Min Pin there that I liked but they wouldn't let me have any interaction with him although he wasn't aggressive according to them. I filled out an application but haven't heard a word and it's been about a week. You would think they would be be proactive considering the dogs with no homes and be eager to help place a pet with a loving home. Was very disappointed.

Friendly Staff and very helpful. The animals are obviously well cared for and the facility is clean. Adoption is a smooth process as long as you and the animal are a good fit. We got Cane and he's been wonderful.

I'd love to. I'l know in a couple of days if i can j have cats in my ne apartment. I'l keep you posted
A call to the office is your best solution to this question.
Call them to ask they are great people
I recently like 3 weeks ago took a litter of kittens and they took them
I dont see why they wouldn't take them, but I'd give them a call before you go. I believe they're open from 12-4:30 today.
Only thing to do is to call the police. They would be the only people to have authority to do anything about that situation
As far as i know you cannot take it anywhere. As soon as the shelter knows its bitten a child, the dog will be destroyed. Best thing you can do is put an add of facebook or craigslist to give it to a family whos delt with difficult dogs.
Yes for a discount. But it's at the Wiregrass Spay and Neuter Alliance.
Most dogs are $150 with the occasional dog $200. It just depends on the breed. Saturday's from 12:30-3:30 we are at petsmart!
Thanks for responding. I'll try contacting them Monday.
We just adopted a puppy. $150
If you take them to humane society they will take them
They will not adopt out a dog for breeding. If the dog is not neutered you must agree to neutered.
They had mostly pit mixes when I went, and some medium sized dogs.
No you go fill out paperwork, then one to two days cats are 95! He is neutered this is UK and has had all shots also dewormed Anne has been chipped
No,
You need to call them
They do not.
Yes
We are closed today
Not sure which number you called but this is their office number (334) 792-6693
It's best to give them a call.
No, they sometimes get pigs or rabbits but mainly cats and dogs
I foster for them, and they often have puppies of all ages. Its best to go there and have a look.
All dog adoption fees are $150. They come spay/neutered, microchiped, up to date on all shots
No
Semper Fi Maranda, I would not take to the shelter. 1) They only accept animals they think that they could find homes for, Rots have a tendency to be difficult... However, they may. 2) Several areas i have lived in have not allowed certain dog breeds and Rots have been on all those lists. It would be better trying to advertise on some websites. Someone out there would want it.
the best thing to do is find a friend, if you cannot do that I would go to a animal shelter and ask to give them money to be able to shelter them for a little while. And if that does not work out just try to ask family if they can take care of them.
The pens are clean as well as the animals.
Do you know for sure? Are you someone that works at the humane society? I just want to make sure these dogs are not put down or starve to death.
Call Big Bend Wild Life rescue
I would call them not sure
Have to call to find out what they have
Houston County Animal Control
Fortunately for cat enthusiasts, they always have beautiful felines. : )
Both
A great multitude of puppies are brought in and adopted out on a daily basis. It is wise to call directly to inquire as to which puppies are available that particular day.
Definitely make a call to the Wiregrass. They receive new dogs & adopt out every day. Please also check their website for photos of the dogs.
Yes, the dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped before adoption.
