The VAMC used to be a great facility. Since Covid they just don’t seem to care any more. Dermatology, podiatry, optometry, Primary Care, Patient Records, Beneficiary Travel, Pain Clinic, even the Patient Advocates all have a don’t care attitude—none of which were interested in helping me overcome my problems over the past three years. I’ve been requesting Community Care whenever I can. I hope they get it back together.

Thank you all who have taken good care of me for the last 4 years. From the staff in the emergency room. 4-6 visits there. The eye care team. Miles in Prosthetics, my Endocrinologist, and to the great one Dr. Scalapino in Rheumatology. The veterans in the Portland area should be thankful they have such good care. A winning formula with the VA partnering with OHSU! We are relocating to Atlanta where in Decatur the VA has a similar system where they are partnered with the infamous Emery University. Thank you all from myself and my wife.

I had an appointment eight days ago, and was told I needed surgery, and some one would be calling me for making an appointment with me. That never happened. I have been calling every day. If I talk to someone, they promise they will leave a message to have someone call me , no one ever calls. This goes on every day. I have been going to the veterans since 1968, and never have I had any trouble. I need to have my prostate operation. Someone please help me out.

If you can get your health care elsewhere do so. Doctors don't give informed consent, difficult to get an appointment, doctors look down on the patients, difficult to get prescriptions and refill. Patients are not listened to or taken seriously. Complaints are as likely to get you banned as to get you help. There are subjects you cannot discuss. I just don't feel like this is Healthcare

There is no Guest housing for families. The Veteran MAY be provided a hotel room, but they will have to pay up front and then be reimbursed. Only on rare occasions the VA will provide housing.
I'm not sure who handles donations to the facility. I would call the main number 503-220-8262 and speak with the operator about who you would go through to donate your television. Thank you for your generosity.
They do have an RV section with hookups but I think you have to call ahead and make sure there's a spot available for you
Car. Bus. Uber. Lyft. Disabled American Veterans group runs a bus service. Call Portland VA main number. Press 0 after the prompts. Ask how to access that service for your area.
See the nice folks on the 1st floor of building 101 right by the healing garden. They'll help you out.
You can't email them, but you can send a secure message using MyHealthEVet, which is a website.
I had to make an appointment. I currently work there and I haven't seen anything other then making an appointment to get the Vac.
Appointments usually on time. Good follow ups. Easy parking. Friendly staff. Very respectful to the veterans. And pretty good food in the cafeteria
I work there and I believe the current policy is that only one family member can accompany a patient.
The cafeteria is not open to the public. Employees, Contractors, and Veterans with appointments only.
I would check out the website or call va direct
No, the spouses and dependents are not eligible for the vaccine though the VA. Even if the veteran is service connected. It is possible that Tricare or ChampVA might cover it, but I don't know for sure.
Vaccinations are at the Gymnasium, VA campus,Vancouve, WA.
Call your primary care
First floor. Walk pass the piano down the hall make a right , it'll be in front of you.
Buffalo exchange west Burnside. Goodwill MLK blvd
They have a Lodge at the Vancouver VA. You can take the VA Portland Shuttle there free.
Across from building 100
Not for patients
If you are 100% disabled or it's service-connected. Then yes, if not then no.
I was helping out a friend of mine that has since passed away we were driving about two and a half hours to get to Portland several times a week after asking them of course they didn't offer they said that if you're so many miles away from the nearest VA that has the doctors you need depending on what it's for that they will pay a non VA Specialist or whatever they need in your area
Patient parking is in P1, P2, and P3. The "P" stands for patient. You get to the parking garage by making a left turn just before you get to the main entrance to the Hospital.
They provide bus passes, only employees with a medical issue or high rank are allowed to park there. Otherwise. they have a small employee lot at the main entrance (first right) that you can reserve a spot at but only twice per month.
You can log onto ebenafits and print it up
Not an ambulance, but medical transport , but you have to be a va patient, not just a veteran. Call the benefits office and they can help you.
Yes, its next to ohsu. If the va doesn't have it. They do
Lol go to ebenefits or call them. You can even set up to get text msgs with appointment info
The VA hospital can be reached at (503)220-8262 😀
Debra, you keep asking Google Guides this question like you're gonna get a proper answer. Call 503.220.8262, ask for the VA Patient Advocates and ask them your question. It's important or you wouldn't keep asking. They can help. Debra, you keep making accusations on a forum that doesn't address those things. It's a Maps forum not legal one. Did you even phone? Who did you ask?
On the third floor, near surgery check in, to the left of their windows.
Your best bet is to call the Portland VA at 503-220-8262
It's called the Patient Advocates office
Sounds like legal question. Ethically and morally they could/should be responsible, but you don't mention who was told, doctor, nurse or therapist... as in who is the 3rd party. Where are you quoting "duty to warn" from? Is that reference from VA or military? Two different bureaucracies. If the VA docs don't know, then they can't be held responsible.
If you're a Patient in hospital I imagine that you ask the nurses for help. If not, you'll have to do that somewhere else. Cafe. Coffee kiosk and a small PX type of store are the only extra amenities available.
The VA has the Veteran Transportation Service or VTS. It will pick you up for your appointment and drop you back home. They need a 3 business day advance notice and can make your reservations on line at WWW.Vetride.net. Or call their office by dialing the VA Hospital operator, and ask for extension 55044, Veterans Transportation Service
Either his primary care or the Er at the va er is quicker
The home in Lebanon oregon is beautiful. My grandmother in law lives there and they also provide transportation to Portland VA for appointments.
If you are just passing thru they have free snacks and coffee in the different depts. Put from what I know they don't. They have a cafeteria and other vendors in the main and you bldg. You cam also buy snacks and drinks in the gift shop. I hope this note yelps you
Ext. 51680
Pass by security/ parking guard after he lets you through. Oversize parting is 100yds ahead on the right. Look for the signs that day PATIENT OVERSIZE VEHICLE PARKING
Maybe. To participate in any thing vetted by VA you'll need to be enrolled in system. Call main number & follow prompts to get that done. In lieu of being part of the system, which would be best for future needs so follow up on that. In meantime go to Amazon and check out possible books & audio on program called DBT. It's the best therapy you can do & part of what skills VA would be offering. Good luck. Take care. Do get enrolled.
Should be
Not if it's elective. I had torn retina. It was emergency surgery. Without it I would now be blind in right eye. Flashing lights are reason to go to emergency room. Vet? They'll take of you. Good luck.
I moved from CA to Oregon
Hahaha...."If you know your parties extension, you can dial it at any time".
You can get hearing test at the Portland VA. First floor go through main lobby. Area D. Left of grand piano. Go down that hall. Turn right. Need more help? Greeter in circle desk in lobby just as you enter lobby can help direct you. Maybe Hillsboro does same. I'm just not familiar with that.
I never thought to ask that. Ask the physical therapy staff.
If I had no other option, I would say open a post office box.
No one resides there. Come and go are workers. In and out are patients. Odd you should think someone lives there. Security there 24 hours day.
I am not sure! On that one I think I would call first
In some parts of the Hospital yes..... It just depends on we're you are ??
