Yes
When I asked about this I was told that I had to be either 1) 100% disabled or 2) a Medal of Honor recipient (!). Being 30% disabled and with only the usual array of awards it was down to the neighborhood DDS.
Only eligible vets are treated at VA. Must be preapproved. David Elmore, only 100% disabled is not the only thing. You must also have an incident in service that can be connected to your current health. I agree. All veterans should receive treatment. Eye care is available for all veterans so now it's so busy it's tricky getting an appointment when you need it. Don't JUST write your congressional representatives, call them and make it known how you think. I do, about once a month or more.
To all Vets and their families. There is a BIG problem when it come to dental care for us. As you may know a Vet who served this grate country is NOT authorized to get dental care unless he has 100% disability. The VA wants you to pay out of your own pocket for private dental . Myself I think it's a shame that we are forced to lose all our teeth because the VA doesn't believe we deserve Dental Care. At Gentle Dental they wanted $3,445 just to work on my mouth.Take a stand and write youre congressman. And let him know how you feel.
