How well are residents cared for at The Fort Tryon Rehabilitation center ?

My husband went to this facility for rehabilitation because of accident..He was only treated half decently when it was time for his physical therapy. He was given hallucinating drugs under the pretense that it was a appetite enhancer..I came into his room as he tried to climb out window ..No one gave permission to give him tranquilizer ..I noticed many of the patients were under heavy meds. The out side garden do heavily advertised was closed for mi reason and anyone who wanted some air was allowed to sit where the garbage was.plus someone was giving outside drugs there to patients I imagine for money The one hour physical therapy was very good but one theropist who really encouraged independence and gave therepy help towards that goal was terminated. The food was cold and terrible. The staff who cared were under a lot of pressure and overloaded.

I'm sorry that your mom is not happy with the food. Our full time dietitians would be very happy to discuss the menu and create an individualized diet for your mom.

Great question

I am looking for a nursing home for a relative from across the country. I am unable to come to NY to spend the time and money necessary to visit and research long-term care facilities. Is it possible to contact relatives of any current residents?

We have many residents that would probably love to tell you about their stay here. Unfortunately, due to confidentiality laws, we cannot give you their information. If you look on our website, we have some residents that speak about their experiences. If you would like to call the facility directly, I (the administrator) might be able to have someone speak to you on the phone. Thank you for your question.
