I originally posted a one-star review of Brook Lane a few months ago without ever explaining why I felt that way about them. I thought now I would, as it might help people that are in a similar situation to my own: a Medicaid recipient trying desperately to find counseling. I've went through a handful of counselors while I was here and I'd like to start off with the positives. Mental health clinics that accept Medicaid are quite hard to come by, so it's nice that if you're not wealthiest person on the planet, that you at least have an option. Also, during my time with Tayler Rowe, I can easily say she's one of the best counselors I've ever had and I ultimately regret not staying with her. Despite that, nearly every other experience I've had with this place has been mostly negative. I'm under the impression that many of the counselors there are overbooked and as a result, are a bit jaded from their work. Some counselors have difficulty remembering key information and some struggle to even make sessions on time consistently. This all pales in comparison to the counselor I've had the worst experience with in my whole entire life; Dr. James Schiller. I am not going to get much into my personal life, but with my only session with James, he was judgmental, dismissive, and rude. His attempts at trying to give client's different perspectives come off more as if he's trying to be a needless contrarian. When I told him about my abuser he told me try to understand my abuser to see where they're coming from and be more open-minded. When I told him how my abuser made me depressed and suicidal, he called me selfish and narcissistic. When I even considered speaking about my past experiences with my abuser, he, A MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR, told me that there was no point in trying to speak on my past and that I should get over it because I'm 21. He doesn't understand people at all. If you're also poor and are trying to seek counseling, please pay a private practice: most good counselors don't accept insurance. You maybe unable to afford it every week, but I guarantee you'll have a considerably better experience than what I had with Brook Lane.

Seems okay. Until it’s not. Psychiatrist’s (Dr. Gonzalez) secretary quit with no notice the day of my appointment, so my medication refill was never processed for a med that I am required to take daily. Called several times the next day—no refill. On Call physician wouldn’t prescribe anything on Friday night, not even enough to get me through the weekend. Their “solution” was to take my empty pill bottle to Urgent Care and ask for more. Thoughts and prayers that I’m not have seizures before I get there. Sincerely, Absolutely Disgusted with Brook Lane

Doctor tried coerce me into changing my answers on a test to better suit his diagnosis of me.Didnt even explain the test from the beginning so my answers were inaccurate from the start. Decided to diagnose me anyways inspite of the answers on the test, then he tried to stick me with a brand name medication, which I tried to explain I couldn't afford. Wouldn't listen. Staff was rude and impatient.
