Wonderful women working there!

Disappointed in this facility. Once we all experienced Covid, they started to only allow appointments. Here we are towards the end of 2022 & I go to this facility on Saturday around 12:10pm. Doors are locked. Saturday & Sundays are by appointment only. Called to see if they could make an exception to let me in, hard no. Because they didn’t have an appointment opening until 2:00pm. There was 1 other car parked out front? What is the reasoning behind requiring an appointment?? These poor animals are inside waiting to be adopted and on the busiest days of the week (Saturdays & sundays) when most people don’t work, they only let you in by appointment. Horrible.

Went to drop off a box full of donations to the thrift store. Didn't realize the hours were 12pm to 4pm . It was 11:45 when i was there. The lady was outside was sitting in the loading drop off area smoking a cigarette. I acknowledged im a bit early but could i drop it off outside. She said no come back at 12. I couldn't do that due to having to be at work. I realize they have times and i normally love donating here due to the good cause. Unfortunately today did not work out well. Went and dropped off everything at the salvation army. Edit: due to the response provided, i have added a star back. Being acknowledged is very respectful. Thank you for that.

A 3-4 week old kitten needs mother’s milk or KMR supplement. Veterinary care is imperative. Please contact the shelter in your area for a referral.
Hi michelle. Where do you live?
Students under 18 years of age are invited to participate in our Paws & Pages reading program. An adult must accompany the student. Books are available to read to the pets in both the cat room and dog kennel room. Hours are Tuesday to Friday 10am to 5pm at 111 Featherbed lane
Yes, thank you
We’re so sorry for your loss. Please call us at 540-662-8616 to schedule an appointment
Hello, this is the link to all of our adoptable dogs. It is updated each time a new dog enters and each time one gets adopted. Local SPCA’s are not affiliated with the national ASPCA. https://www.petango.com/shelter_pets?shelterId=4290&speciesId=1
I saw about 5 there. Several older dogs. Not a large number. It appeared they had more cats.
Hi Pat, we are closed on Mondays. Please call us Tuesday-Friday 10AM-5PM to discuss options. Thank you.
Hello, We work with Lisa Marino at Head of the Class Dog Training. :)
Not at the moment, they have mostly hounds like blue ticks and others
Hi Ronda, All of our kittens are spayed/neuter, vaccinated, micro-chipped, flea and tick treated, come with a complimentary vet visit and a take home box. The fee is $125 unless we're having an adoption special. Our next special is a fee waived adoption event at Subaru of Winchester on Valley Ave. scheduled for December 7th 10AM-3PM
We microchip our own animals here at the shelter, but we do not do the public's animals.
Not to be rude, but puppies should stay with their mom for at least 8 weeks. One month is too young
They would treat the can and keep it in a cat box till it was healthy they they would let it out if it's not a mean cat
Hi Jacob, Please contact the primary shelter for Frederick County, Esther Boyd. In the event they are unable to assist, you can give us a call but this time of year we normally remain at capacity. Getting the cats fixed prior to surrender would be of great help and then we would be more likely to be able to get them into our adoption center quickly. Thank you.
Hi, we do not have a spay neuter clinic. We partner with Anicira, they have clinics in both Harrisonburg and Manassas.
We are so sorry for you and your kitty. We do not euthanize at our facility. A local vet should be able to help.
Hi Kimberly, Where is your residence located?
You can do so at the SPCA. Best to give them a call if you have any specific questions. They are a fantastic organization and are a no kill shelter.
Yes, thank you. We accept all donations and any items we can not use at the animal shelter are taken to our thrift shop or to textile recycling.
Hello, the adoption fee is $95 and includes spay/neuter, all age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, one vet visit, and a cardboard carrier.
We’re sorry to hear about your mom’s dog. We do not have a vet in staff, we rely on local veterainarians to care for our shelter animals. We recommend the emergency vet, Valley Emergency (across from Costco) for emergencies. If you need further assistance you can also contact the Animal Control in your jurisdiction and they may be able to provide service.
Not at this time.
If they don't have services they can set you up with a rescue or vet that does.
Hi Stephen, There is no fee but you would need to call to discuss options and make an appointment. 540-662-8616 .
I volunteer at the SPCA in Winchester, VA. I was there yesterday and saw that they do have some rabbits as well as cats and dogs, but no birds.
You can stop any time to walk dogs or pet the cats. If you wish to do more, you will need to attend a volunteer orientation. Give them a call or stop in to get the time/date of the next one.
They do occasionally get rabbits and other small animals. Best to stop in or call.
You should call and ask on my last visit there they had a Husky mix.
During the spring and aummer it is common for there to be kittens brought in. Always best to call though since kittens usually get adopted very quickly (one day there may be 5 and the next none).
Hello. The SPCA does not currently offer shots. Tractor Supply has a weekly pet clinic and Petco, CVS have monthly clinics. Esther Boyd Animal Shelter is hosting a rabies clinic on May 19
Not at my last visit. Call they will help you out.
This asks the public about the place in question. If you have a question for them, call them
No anyone can
You have to call then and they will be happy to help you with all your questions about the your aminal.
Hi, What type of letter do you need?
We are a no kill shelter.
Hi, ask your veterinarian about Care Credit.
Hi, We do not host rabies clinic but our friends at Esther Boyd Animal Shelter in Frederick County are hosting a clinic on May 19th.
