I'm stuck in NY because of a hurricane hitting Fort Myers where I live. I wanted just an extra day to keep the car, and they wanted over $200 for it! NEVER rent from Alamo at Albany Airport! Also, there's 33% tax on cars rented at the airport!!! Total ripoff! And I spoke with a Rep that was supposed to have someone call me, and no one called! Horrible customer service! Next time I'll use Hertz!

Mike P assisted us when we picked up our car after a late flight. He provided exceptional customer service and was fun to work with! Thank you for making our rental experience awesome Mike!

Updating this review since I just realized this is literally a Jerry Seinfeld episode! Rewatched the series while stuck at home during COVID. All I can say is it’s much less funny when it actually happens to you instead of Jerry and Elaine! But points to Alamo for making the horrible New York experience just like a TV show sitcom also set in New York. Read on to find out how bad the reality was…. Then do yourself a favor and rent from ANYONE else. Yes, even Kramer’s rent-a-wreck would be an improvement. …. Do not rent from these people if you have a choice. We had booked a standard size car for a trip from Albany to Montreal. They said we had no reservation... when I showed them the confirmation email they said there were not enough digits in the confirmation number. When I showed them the confirmation that was live on their website they tried to say there must be some glitch in the system. Clearly they had mistakenly given our reserved car to a walk-up and then figured they’d just give us a car three “classes” below what we had reserved. And they figured they could just lie about what happened as if we lived in the pre-internet era. They’re too ignorant to realize everything they do leaves a trail. So we had to make the 200 mile trip from Albany to Montreal in an economy Hyundai in snow flurries with no winter tires and what was clearly NOT sub-freezing wiper fluid. This company is an abomination. They do not care about the customer—not just their happiness but they literally don’t care if you survive your trip and will lie and force you to accept cars that are actually dangerous to drive under whatever the current conditions are. You’ve been warned.

I rent frequently for work. I've rented from every company at Albany International Airport and Alamo is hands down the best! Alamo Rental sales agents are always professional and courteous, the vehicles are always clean and new and I've never been charged for anything outside of what I agreed to at pickup. Alamo isn't always the cheapest, but I've learned it's worth paying a few dollars more to not have to deal with dirty, older vehicles, unprofessional agents and billing discrepancies from the other companies (looking at you Budget and Hertz).

Questions & Answers

Want to rent an SUV (large) for one way drop in Fort Myers FL. Will pick up Tuesday Jan 7 shortly after 12 noon with expected arrival in Fort Myers, Saturday Jan. 11th in evening. Can you please give me rate for Senior 2 drivers.

It will cost more than the average local rental due to your trip being one way. If you use Priceline, hotwire, etc you will get a better discount than using the actual Alamo website
