These apartments are in a great location just a few minutes from downtown Asheville. Lots of grocery stores and dining within walking distance. Nice historic charm and fantastic maintenance!

So many beautiful memories at Hawthorne Northside. Amazing staff and location and great views depending on the unit you get. Not to mention lovely plaster walls if you get a non-renovated unit. You can really feel the history in these buildings and I get warmfuzzy’s when walking about the property and the adjacent neighborhood. We had such a great year living at Hawthorne however after a while we began to feel cramped due to lack of available storage, also the street noise from the nearby dispatch station got to be a little much. Other than that, this is a wonderful place to live and I will always recommend it!

A great historic feel within walking distance to all of Ashevilles area attractions! You get so much character in the home and they have all been renovated. The neighbors and management are amazing.

When we moved in to our not quite 800 square ft., 2/1 townhouse apartment just under 3 years ago, the rent was $760 a month. Water, sewer, internet, and washer/ dryer were included. The apartment was small, old and not updated - but the rent was fair considering these things. Cut to today....the only thing that has changed is the company who owns this property (absolutely no improvements have been made even though they claim "upgrades"...their idea of an upgrade is replacing the faulty pipes with even WORSE pipes - our shower is constantly clogging no matter what we do, and our kitchen sink pipes continue to leak after the maintenance man has "fixed" the problem) and the amount of the rent....oh and by the way, nothing is included anymore. WE RECEIVED ALMOST NO NOTICE THAT OUR RENT WAS BEING RAISED BY $300 A MONTH (raised by a total of over $500 in less than three years)!!! For people living month to month, this is absolutely unrealistic and unfair - we are currently doing some research because we doubt it is even LEGAL. $1280 a month for an 800 sq ft 2/1 is highway robbery. Yes, the location is pretty good and the grounds are well kept - but we could rent a much larger 3/2 home with a fenced-in yard in the same neighborhood for hundreds less! Unfortunately with such short notice, we were not prepared with a deposit and first/last to move in to a new place. We could not possibly be less happy with Hawthorne, and would not recommend that our worst enemy move here. Be prepared for an onslaught of highly negative reviews, and good long-term tenants moving out, because we have been talking to our neighbors and are FAR from the only irate tenants. Shame on you Hawthorne.

Questions & Answers

Is this apartment complex on the "good" side of town? Every town has a good and bad side. What's the difference between North and South?

North vs south side isn't like good vs bad. North side doesn't have to contend with I-26. That's why I lived there. Plenty of good bars on the north side and really close to downtown.

How much is the rent for a 2 bedroom.
