Unwilling to work with me to time the shipment of their box after a couple failed deliveries. Seems a bit ridiculous considering how little it costs to ship an empty box vs. how much I would be paying to digitize the actual tapes once I am able to ship them. Lost a customer.

Questions & Answers

I have 14 Super8MM videos. What would be the approximate cost of converting them to DVDs?

Skip Crouse | Oct 6, 2019
iMemories | Oct 6, 2019

We have a couple of different options: Online Plus - Digital Conversion only, DVDs not included $12.99 per tape, $12.99 per 50 feet of film or $0.49 per image All memories will be converted to digital files and made available online and on the iMemories app. You will then have 30 days to view, edit, and download your memories as well as create and order customized DVDs ($9.99 each). Direct to DVD - Digital Conversion and DVDs $12.99 per tape, $12.99 per 50 feet of film or $0.49 per image plus DVD cost ($9.99 each) All memories will be converted and DVDs automatically created. No customization available. DVDs costs are calculated based on media type and amount of discs required. Video tapes are each put on their own DVD discs (not combined). Films are combined into as few DVDs as possible, up to 2,000 feet. Photos are combined into as few discs as possible, up to 500 images. Feel free to contact us at 1-800-845-7986 to further discuss your order and our available options.

Think you should call customer service for IMemories. They can give you best answers. They are very understanding and helpful! I called them 3 times with questions and they were kind. They were people who do the work, NOT just a phone customer service! The prices are NOT high!

If I send in about 500 slides and they're already grouped, can the scanning process be done in a designated order to simplify sorting later?

Tim&Kerry Arent | Oct 6, 2018
Customer Relations | Oct 6, 2018

While processing your order, iMemories will keep your slides, negatives or photos grouped and in order as they were received. The media will be online in the same groups (each group in one online album) and in order. It is recommended that you include any necessary special instructions as a note in your order. Once the images are online in your iMemories account, you will have the ability to further organize your images if needed.

I have no idea what is on the tapes, I am doing this as a Christmas present for my kids, unbeknownst to them. Do you mark and/or date the DVDs?

Hi Marla, Thank you for your interest in iMemories! We will digitize your media and make everything available online to view, edit and organize. I dont have a way to view some of my old videos and am not sure if I need whats on them. What if they are blank?

Claudia Bell | Oct 6, 2019
iMemories | Oct 6, 2019

To avoid paying for processing on a blank tape, we can complete a "blank tape check" to see if there is any content on the tapes that may be blank. There is a service charge of $0.99 per tape to get the tapes checked. To initiate the blank tape check, place the tapes that you think may be blank into a separate bag. Include a note "Please check for blank." This will prompt our receiving team to check the tapes for footage prior to including them in your quote.

I have some old slides. I would like to see a sample of how you enhance pictures. I have a cheap hand held digital converter but the quality is not that good. I would like to see a before and after sample picture.

Debbie Ueeck | Oct 6, 2019
Barry Watson (ArcherMuch) | Oct 6, 2019

I have had slides converted by iMemories. They have always done a good job considering that the slides are several decades old. And once you get them in digital form there is a lot you can do to them on your own!

you have a special price right now. I have many old movies and tapes and was wondering if I sent only part of them at a time would the price stay the same until completed?

judith simon | Oct 6, 2019
iMemories | Oct 6, 2019

Hi Judith, Thank you for your interest in iMemories! You are able to send your media in parts. Pricing is subject to change at any time. We are unable to guarantee a price for future order.

What if some of the items are duplicates? i.e. unmarked VHS + unmarked 8mm copy of same, will I be charged for unknown duplicates? I can't view the 8mm to find out what is on them because the camcorder broke.

donita valerius | Oct 6, 2019
iMemories | Oct 6, 2019

If there are duplicates across different formats, we won't know this until the items are processed. To process the items we charge $12.99 per tape. This gets the footage digitized and put online. What we would suggest for your situation is to have the 8mm converted first, then compare them to the VHS tapes that you have (if you have a VCR to view them with).

I understand resolution, or pixels is very important when scanning photos and slides. What resolution do you use?

S. Zimmer | Oct 6, 2019
iMemories | Oct 6, 2019

All negatives, slides and prints are scanned to JPEG (.jpg) files and have an output of a 6 X 4 image at 500-600dpi resolution.

How does editing work when digitizing hi-8 mm tapes? There may be some footage preferred to be omitted from the original tape to the digitized format. If some tapes are not in chronological order, how does it get digitized in that order?

Rosemarie P | Oct 6, 2019
Kathryn Parsons | Oct 6, 2019

You will be provided instructions on how to edit tapes. My son did all the work in organizing, but if I remember correctly, he just moved the tapes around according to date. Sorry, I'm not much help.

How do you copy a video for editing and leave the original alone?

Kay Salmon | Oct 6, 2018
Customer Relations | Oct 6, 2018

To copy a video in your iMemories account, you first want to create a new album. You can then drag and drop an album on top of the new album. A window will appear. Select the "Copy" button to make a copy into the new album. iMemories always keeps a backup of your original version in the system, just in case too.
