Initial impressions was alot of staff, valet parking, and open space. My room had been canceled due to miscommunication from my company about which day I was to arrive for a conference. This was promptly resolved although initially I was told the hotel was fully booked. At the end of my conference, I had spent the remainder of each day in the lazy river until the sun went down. Although the lobby room bar wasn't cheap, the drinks were strong and were almost worth the price they charged. Poolside bar closes at 5pm not 10pm like other staff had told me.(bring a cooler or backpack with snacks/ drinks). Breakfast was unfortunately not included, and cost $30 or more (I did not indulge as I was told it wasn't worth it). Shower and bathtub in the king bedroom and each room has a balcony or porch included. 1st floor was nice and private but I did not have any views of the west coast sunset I've heard so much about(I'm from NY). Overall was impressed with the amenities that included a Starbucks, arcade, conference center, golf course, spa, multiple pools, countless staff, multiple restaurants, and even a small clothing store similar to a airport souvenir store. Find a deal and this place is worth the visit. You would think at $800/night they would offer a free breakfast. 5 stars for everything except price and a Poolside bar that closes at too early.

What an awesome resort. The food was outstanding! The grounds were beautiful. The pool area was large and not overly crowded. The service staff were friendly, no matter where on the resort you were. The self parking was easy if you had your own vehicle. It was easy to get to from the airport. Location had plenty to do around it as well. I would recommend staying here if you are in the area!

I had a wonderful stay at the JW Marriot Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa. It started out perfect as I got a text notification that my room was ready for check in while I was on the way to the Resort. Check in was quick and I got to settle in my room and change clothes before finding a quick bite to eat before my 1:00 meeting. Check-out was super smooth as well. The grounds are beautiful. There are multiple pools, a lazy river and two hot tubs. I played pickle ball for the first time. Unfortunately, I only got to the spa on the last day I was there but it looks amazing. The food at the on-site restaurants was tasty. There is also food and shopping within walking distance of the resort. You can also "rent" bikes for 2 hrs for free. I had a wonderful time! I was there for the White Coat Investor Conference and the conference facilities were great. The food provided by the resort for the conference was exceptional. I'm excited that the conference will be back at the same place in 2023.

This hotel is beautiful, but there are some gotchas that really bring down the experience, starting with the extremely aggressive parking valets. The valet staff told us we had to allow them to park our car (for $35) in order to check-in to the hotel even though we intended to self-park (for $20). According to them, we couldn't leave a car anywhere near the front desk even for 5 minutes to check-in. That was a terrible first impression of the hotel. The rest of the hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, but the valet staff really upset my wife. The rooms are being refreshed/upgraded and we got one of the finished rooms. The room was clean and quiet. The beds were comfortable. But the bathroom is really tight (when you open the shower door, it clears the front of the toilet by less than an inch). Our shower door was hung poorly, preventing it from closing completely, so we had water on the bathroom floor anytime someone took a shower. The hotel grounds are immaculate and there are plenty of activities like tennis and pickle ball to enjoy. The swimming area is gorgeous and really relaxing, but the only way to get to the pool is to walk through the restaurant right next to the front desk. That means a lot of unnecessary walking through the hotel and it was a little strange to walk past several tables of people trying to enjoy a meal while we were dressed for swimming. I wouldn't have enjoyed a meal at one of those tables. I have stayed at plenty of JW Marriott hotels over the years. The JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge is one of my least favorites.
