A few months ago after receiving estimates from other plantation shutters installers, we had Blake, from Sunburst Shutters in Raleigh, come out for an estimate. We were finishing part of our basement and wanted to install plantation shutters on several windows and a door. It was obvious from the start that Blake is an expert with many years’ experience in this field. He brought samples of their products and explained our options. He answered all of my questions in detail and explained why he recommended a particular product for our application. After carefully measuring all windows and doors, Blake completed his estimate in just a few minutes. We had to wait a few weeks for our shutters to be custom built, but It was worth the wait. The Sunburst Polywood plantation shutters were installed on our windows and door in a couple hours by a very careful installation crew. The shutters fit perfectly and look really great. The quality and finish are readily apparent and the shutters operate very smoothly. Although their shutters are slightly more expensive than their competitors’ products, we feel they are well worth the higher price.

Blake the owner is so pleasant to work with. You get a feeling that he knows what he’s talking about and that he’s being honest with you. The Sunburst product is very high quality, I wish we would have done our whole house. The shutters are little pricey (why we didn’t do the whole house) but well worth it. Scheduling and ordering was fast. The shutters took a while to get here but everything is these days. Installation was fast and I’m very happy with our final product! A Sunburst rep will come to your house and show you a variety of shutter and window treatment samples. Once you make your choice, we will take precise measurements, so the treatment can be made to fit perfectly. A few weeks later we will come back to install your new window treatments.

Shutters are custom made to your exact window dimensions, shape and options, so pricing is tough until your windows are measured. Pricing is also determined by the type of shutter you choose. We have real wood, faux wood (Polywood), stained faux wood, and reclaimed wood shutters.

Sunburst can make plantation shutters for specialty windows like arches, circles, and eyebrow windows. Our shutters are custom-made to fit arched windows perfectly.
Real wood shutters are made from furniture-grade hardwood. But most customers prefer our Polywood shutter, which is an extruded polymer material that won't chip, warp or crack, and is moisture and termite resistant. Polywood also lasts much longer than real wood, is more energy efficient, has a better warranty and costs less.
Plantation shutters are considered one of the best window treatments for kids. Window treatment cords have been tagged as one of the most dangerous hazards in the home for young children. Since shutters use a tilt rod instead of cords, there is no strangulation hazard.
Sunburst’s Polywood line of shutters has a lifetime warranty on the craftsmanship of the shutter, the finish, and installation. Our stained wood shutters have a limited lifetime warranty on craftsmanship and a 2-year warranty on stain finishes.

Sunburst’s Polywood Shutters are a moisture resistant faux wood. They work great in bathrooms and basements because the humidity won’t warp the louvers.
