We were told that this was not a “must see”, and that we could see what we needed from the main road. So glad we explored further, as this was one of our favorite stops on our western trip. This attraction is part of the Navaho Nation and is not a National Park. The cost is reasonable per person. The visitor center has lots of native made pots, jewelry, and more. There is a nice balcony to take panoramic pictures from. The restaurant is a little pricy but good, and with a nice view of the park. We drove through the path around the rock formations. If you have a low car, it would be tricky. There are people selling local crafts and horseback riding options. Highly recommend!

Put this place on your bucket list! The views are incredible to the human eye! You can drive down in the valley with your car or take a tour with a Navajo guide. If you can afford a tour then I would suggest that. You go down in a truck and they will take you to the best places in the valley. And you don't have to worry about your car getting damaged or dirty. Some of the road is very bumpy. There are also 2 lodges to stay in at the entrance. The view hotel and Gouldings lodge. Both are very nice! The view is overlooking the Valley! Pretty cool! Little pricey though.

I took a camping tour from Blindlestiff and visited the great Monument Valley. If you enjoy old western movies, this place will delight you as a kid. We camped in front of the valley and watched the sunrise. It was such a unique and wonderful experience that I will never forget. The sky at night is full of stars. You can see giant rock formation and endless horizons.

My husband and I visited in March and weren’t able to take the driving tour due to the amount of people already on the tour. However we bought a ticket for the following day and were so glad we did. The views from the road just can’t do this place justice. If you have a couple hours to spare I highly recommend taking the driving tour. You won’t be disappointed. If you go during the summer I recommend not skipping the sunblock. It was pretty warm during our visit at the end of March. Make sure you take the short drive to see Forest Gump’s final stop. Take care to watch for oncoming cars.

You have just to pay for entering the Navajo Nation, after that it's free
Inside the monument valley is gravel.
Only on main roads. They are pretty obvious also. The night sky is amazing anywhere there in monument valley
