Ignorant workers, definitely racism going on in there.

They either need to close this place down or get better workers because omg the people that work here are just hostile for no reason. They snap off for nothing. Like I'm literally talking ro this lady calmly and she just got attitude. This is why I stop going up there and just do everything over the phone. Make no sense how they treat people.

Okay. Here is the thing with this office and U have to excuse me for the long review. It is what I do and have been doing for quite some time now. My first experience with this location was back in 2003 since my initial experience I have Comeback to this location in 2011, 2016 and recently in 2021/2022. In all the times I visited DHS on 80th Cottage Grove I never encountered any real problems or unprofessional like behavior. Back in 2003, in the olden days of doing things when U had to come here and park yourself outside the door at 6:00AM in the morning just so your needs, questions and problems can be dealt with by 4:30PM. I never once had to deal with State Government workers that could careless about your situation and need for Public Aide Assistance. There is always going to be one or two that should of retired or maybe chosen another line of work, but most of the staff I had to deal with even the Security Guards that allowed U 2 come in THE OFFICE early back (open the doors @ 7:30AM when the office opened @ 8:00AM) in the day when it was cold outside were cordial/decent. The long waits of the OLD were never fun and the staff did have a tendency to all go to lunch @ the same time. Which always made U loose patient even more because the process was long and quite arduous at times. I do recall a lists was given to all new case numbers on what to bring to set up a new file. But now everything can be done either online or over the phone, if U get the right caseworker, who is extremely knowledgeable and knows HER damn job well, SHE will be able to assist U in all things Public Aide Assistance. I have dealt with two over the PHONE THE past two years that were patient, kind and very professional / WENT above/beyond to HELP in all matters related even unrelated to Public Aide Assistance. My suggestion is to apply online or use their 1 800 to call and apply, hopefully U will get a decent caseworker to assist U with questions, and RESOLVING any issues involving your case. Please do not call the number listed on the website for this office they will not answer and will not give any information over the phone. U will have to make a in person visit which is probably better, plus the bests time to come from past experience is on a Thursday/Friday because the beginning of the week (HAD A LOT OF TRAFFIC) is USUALLY when folks are known for coming to apply etc…. Finally, if there is a person with disabilities, senior citizens or just need assistance to HAVE A FAMILY MEMBERS/ FRIEND or THEIR KIDS step up and step in to HELP with those groups in getting Public Aide Assistance. THANK YOU FOR READING HOPEFULLY THIS WILL HELP SOME!!!

Ophelia Murray has helped me out tremendously. Very sweet lady, patient, and fast.

Completely agree
You can go to any office and they can pull up your case. As long as you are in a community office.
The Dhs offices and the people they service are not good people. They love to make complaints about there cases not being processed in particular cash cases registered for phone interview. The client was made aware that they had to come in office for their Redd so they calls Region 1S about why they didn't receive their cash. When clearly they were explained the policy and procedure during the interview. It was the client insisting to complete the medical/ Snap assistance. Making the next person to handle case confused about why wasn't their cash portion not certified. You people wonder why any office are not pick up on whim for any clients. When the worker wants to do their jobs it is very difficult to appease people who are disgruntled and exaggerate their complaints. So if DHS NOT ANSWER YOUR CALLS PEOPLE THIS WOULD BE THE REASON AND CONDERATION OF SERVICING PEOPLE THAT ARE CONSISTENTLY BOMBARDING THE LOCAL OFFICE DAILY! 🤔☹😭
Their phones donot serve the Citizens of Chicago . They eat food in the Work Area , many of the workers donot give correct information. We MUST insist on better policies . Everyone is not computer savvy or own one. Thats even more challenging . The hiring of more workers is definitely needed. This Building is much to small and toilets must be cleaned often............ETC.
EXACTLY....I'm TRTIN 2 figure out y put the # on the letter & say call if they're NOT goin 2 answer. I've been callin 4 2 days now & they have ONLY 2 prompts, 1: HELP w/Espanol, 2: If u have an active acct & need 2 speak w/a worker....After it ring 4 so many times then it hangs up, REALLY How bout NOTHIN sayin press "0" 2 speak w/an operater/receptionist.... Dis is SAD....
Its really not. If u feel u not being serviced correctly u can do a grievance, ask for the local office administrator or call Springfield. That office uses a system that is messed up. I understand your pain truly but that office has good workers but they can only do so much. Voices need to be heard. Make a change and let your voice be heard to the administrators that can make the change
How long are u willing to wait? Check up on your biz
Those humans come in already mad. I agree with you they think they will never need assistance.
I been waiting 2 Months 3 weeks for Food Stamps starving Mervin my new name
Stop by goin 2 the office and lettin them knw u dont want ur case goin 2 another state if u not movin there but 2 let u knw u n 4 a long wait
The Office will not give you a link card. They can only be mailed to you.
Supposed to be 8:30-5:00 however they have cut-off times to actually assist people!
It is best if you apply online. Search ABE application in your Google search engine.
Unfortunately i don't know sorry
Sure take it to the front desk and they should call you
They never answer. I always go up there.
Yes you can. State of illinois issued checks to those whose SNAP applications took over 30 days to complete. There should be an explanation on the letter about why you are receiving the check. As a side note, IDHS has gotten tremendously better at completing the applications. Enjoy your money!
No
Because they be short staffed in the call center
No problem. All Federal, state, county, and city offices including the post office will be closed, as well as all public schools. All banks, savings and loans and credit unions also will be closed on Tuesday.
Hopefully Springfield IL will help you. Everyone must inform them of the awful service we receive ....ETC
No. Closed today
Tell your Clients why the Department has phones. You never answer. It's a WASTE of TAX PAYERS HARD EARNED MONEY ???
They say you can but I haven’t been able to find anything
If u on ur own yes and long as u not on no1 else case
It is a hit or miss, depends on the staff member how much they're willing to assist you, they are liable to just say no and go about their business because they're horrible workers
