Ranger's cabin porch. Appalachian Trail thru hikers get to drop off their packs and borrow day packs for their quick 10.4 mile round trip hike to the summit and back. With that their 2189.8 mile (2017 mileage) and many month and all weather thru hike from Springer Mt. Georgia to Katahdin has come to an end. It is very emotional for the hikers. I know. I was one.

Great campground and closest to Baxter Peak which is about 5 miles up the mountain. Located on a stream & provides both tent & shelters. Rangers are very informative on the various hikes in the area. Highly recommended! Firewood is available at campground.

There is parking at the campground, but you will have to permit the vehicles, but maybe that is included in your camp reservation,
There are several camp grounds in Baxter State park and Mt Katahdin. When you call to reserve they'll set you up with something. I dont know right off if thy have any secluded like your looking for. I do however know, you and your friends will love it up there. Its a beautiful place for any get away. Good luck
No electricity and no running water. You are not allowed to have any type of generator regardless of how quiet it is.
There are no showers but there are toilets.
Yes, you will have to pay. Reservations are recommended because all of the spots will get taken during busier periods.
