My wife, 6 nieces and nephews (ages 6 through 14) and I had an amazing time. We stayed in sites 1 and 3 which gave us the full corner across from the Camp Hosts, close to a clean bathroom, a shower, good drinking water and walking distance to the beach. The Camp hosts Brian, Erin and their children were friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Brian went above and beyond when I discovered my vehicle had a flat tire and helped me plug and repair the tire on site which saved me a lot of time.

Me and my boyfriend had a wonderful visit here at this campground site. We stayed 2 nights. The host s Brain and Erin were so helpful and friendly. They did a great job keeping our camping area clean.... especially the bathrooms! I highly recommend this camping site. The lake which is very close the the camp grounds is gorgeous. We enjoyed using our kayaks.

Yes
Online Its suggested you grab a regular site first but anyone can use them
Icehouse Resort is closest "store". its about 10-15 minutes from sunset CG. Has some small grocery items (ice, milk, beer, bacon, chips, towels etc type items). Also has gas, propane and small camping items. You can also rent a kayak there during summer. There's a bar and restaurant onsite and hours very. Nearest major market it Safeway in Pollock Pines about 30-40 min away. There's another small chevron/convenience store in Fresh Pond before the Safeway...not sure what yer after but thats yer choices
You can drive up to the campground, they are open but only four first come first serve. This may change due to fires but this morning the website started available for first come first serve. No more reservations. You can call 877-444-6777 to confirm.
https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232083..click on availability..or by site for availability..gunna be pretty busy but you may find 1 site open one day and a nearby site open the next day, so you could do the moving thing if you needed 2 days..also..check wolf creek and yellow jacket campsites as the have FF (first come first serve) sites too...there are some walk to sites as well near foshada and Jones fork campgrounds if yes into packing your tent and stuff in..usually pretty open...on that site you can also look up nearby ice house reservoir and go up a little further to loon lake which both have camping.
