We spent the day just relaxing during Lavender Days. Apple Hill was our last stop. It was nice and peaceful. The pies are super fresh and it was nice to stroll through the lovely garden where you can make your own bouquet. I really appreciated the patients, love and care shown to my mother in law who has dementia. She really bloomed that day and she was asking tons of questions and telling stories.. Lovely experience...we would definitely go again
But Then What?
We went to 24Carrot Farm and Boa Vista, both very good- 24Carrots is a small farm but i was impressed with the plants and delicious food they grew. Boa Vista is always good, delicious things everywhere you look! A lot of the business mostly open in fall-winter but it depends. Always check ahead, but it’s a beautiful drive nonetheless.

This time of year (May) is off season for most of Apple Hill. But the drive was nice and pretty to see the area. Boa Vista Orchards is open year round for a nice selection of fruit and vegetables and is just off the highway. Take the Schnell (sp?) exit because of construction on Hwy 50 or you have to go further up and come back down. That's how we did a tour looping around on Larsen Rd. We stopped and bought 2 blackberry pies at Boa Vista which are delicious! However, like everything else, it came with sticker shock. The frozen pies were on sale, so that's what we opted for. Very easy to bake. No traffic and a very nice drive just to get out for a bit.

Beautiful place! We come here pretty much every year with the family. You ca buy fresh Apple cider, Apple pie and choose from a large selections of apples and other local grown fruits.
Thanks! Your review is awaiting moderation.
Yes it will be open.
Some are, chance it...its better during the week!!
Absolutely! And the further up you go (in my opinion) the better selection of trees. They don't seem to be as picked over. 😊
There are at the major apple establishments but they operate seasonally, not now. Placerville is minutes away and has many good restaurants. Have fun
Boa Vista and Mill View Ranch are open year round, but the rest of Apple Hill is only open from the end of August till mid Nov.
They are open 7 days per week until December 24
Definitely boa Vista for pies they have a killer caramel Dutch apple pie
I saw a sign at one farm that said 363 days a year. It was one of the larger farms.
Absolutely not. Great for early crops such as peaches and nectarines
Indeed! One location in the Apple Hill area we recommend is High Sierra Iris & Wedding Gardens https://weddingsnflowers.com/
Yes it is. Enjoy your day. Worth the trip.
Go to High Hill, it's the biggest and there is quite a lot to see!
When we were up 2 weeks ago there were still some you could pick your own
Our tourist center is just taking calls/messages yet the year round family farm Boa Vista Orchards www.boavista.com remains open 7:30am - 6pm every day.. Hope that helps and that you have a great day!
Our tourist center is just taking calls/messages yet the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com is open 7:30am - 6pm every day.. Hope that helps!
Yes weekends are very busy from September through mid December.
I do not sure. But Boa vista store is open whole year. Sales pastry. Fruit, honey, vegetables
I was at high hill ranch yesterday/ Saturday and it was clear.
Boa vista orchard is open year around. Excellent produce and bakery goods. You can always call high hill and boa vista before you go, to be sure.
Different farms have different schedules
We started already. Our pumpkin patches are open as well. A few of them.
They have whole pies there frozen fresh and ready for baking, or you can order fresh by the slice.
Most are open at 7:30am. We always go on Sunday morning as things are just opening and it is far less traffic. Boa Vista is open year round.
Yes...just go anywhere. They all have them
No only 2 of them that I know of. Boa vista and one by the church can't remember the name of it.
Hello, I know they do face painting at the Pumpkin Patch, if on Friday or not, it sure. Good luck & have fun...
Its open today and there is no smoke its a clear sunny day
Yes it is week days are the best not crowded
yes
Greetings and apologizes for delayed response! One farm in the Apple Hill area stays open year round and that is Boa Vista www.boavista.com and they are open 7:30am - 6pm every day of the year except Thanksgiving & Christmas.. Hope that helps for future reference and that your New Year is off to a great start!
All open, even the Christmas tree farms.
November is a great time to visit! We always recommend starting at the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com.. Hope that helps!
Some farms in the Apple Hill area like Boa Vista www.boavista.com are open 363 days a yeay (only closed Thanksgiving & Christmas) and seasonal farms around them like High Hill Ranch are open daily until Christmas Eve.. Hope that helps!
Please check with the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com (530) 622-5522 for they grow and harvest Arkansas Black apples yet we are unsure if they have picked them yet.. Hope that helps
Yes.
Many places are open 7 days a week this time of year. My best advice is to avoid going on a weekend if at all possible. The crowds and traffic are crazy on Saturday and Sunday.
Yes
Our tourist center is just taking messages during this time, yet the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com is open 7:30am - 6pm every day including today (Easter) and other locations may be open as well.. Hope that helps!
The year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com (530) 622-5522 is open 363 days a year yet currently no snow on ground.. We will definitely post online once the Apple Hill area does get some snow!
Apologizes for delayed response, the only farm open 363 days a year in the Apple Hill area is Boa Vista www.boavista.com (530) 622-5522
Most places are closed for the season now Boa Vista stays open year round
Yes all are open just have to wear a mask even though it's all outdoors
Seasonal farms such as High Hill & Abel's typically close around Christmas Eve yet the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com is open 363 days a year 7:30am - 6pm every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.. Hope that helps!
Apple Hill is a collective of growers. Each is a stand alone venue, walkable individually but you will drive between farms. A lovely day.
I don't know, but it's November and the majority of orchards have been harvested. Besides, this time of year, a hard frost would have ruined the remaining fruit on the trees. I guess you'll have to pick through the apple bins.
Many farms will be open and we recommend starting at the year round farm Boa Vista boavista.com.. Hope you have a great day!
Our tourist center is just taking calls/messages yet many farms like the year round Boa Vista boavista.com (open 7:30am - 6pm every day) will remain open with regular hours on November 11 for Veterans Day.. Hope that helps!
Our tourist center is just taking calls/messages yet the year round farm Boa Vista www.boavista.com is open 363 days a year (only closed Thanksgiving & Christmas) and will be open 7:30am - 6pm on Veterans Day with lunch, bakery, market and much more!
Included is the apple hill event calendar. https://applehill.com/calendar
I'm not sure. I would think so. They don't have any signs turning anyone away🙃
You can call up there to any one of the farms and ask.
Yes Boa Vista is open all year long
8am to 5pm
Yes there are. Not as many due to the covid-19. But plenty of crafts to peruse.
No. You don't have to make reservations.
Yes, at high hill. You catch and take, no releasing back into the pond. We were there yesterday and there were lots of people catching fish.
Most of the establishments are open. You can verify which ones by checking the apple hill website.
I agree. Mornings are best. We were there this past Saturday mid-day and it was PACKED. Long car lines. Took about a 1/2 hr to go from the freeway to Boa Vista and then about 20 minutes to go around the corner to El Dorado. But the food is worth it. Those 2 are my favorites. Don't forget to bring your face mask. They ARE REQUIRED. 🌞🤗🍎🍏🍐🥧🎃🍔🥙🥪🌭
Many locations in the Apple Hill area are open year round (e.g. Boa Vista) yet some are seasonal like High Hill and close on Christmas Eve.. Hope that helps!
Going early is a good thing here. There is limited parking and it's shorter lines.
My Niece got the coolest Tall Thin pumpkins last weekend at Boa Vista.
Not at Boa Vista during the day I went. Masks required.
I doubt it but I'm not sure it's in placerville california and I've only seen usa sites
That one's called El Dorado Orchard and it's closed
Research the different farms/growers. There are several that have play areas for kids. https://applehill.com/fun-4-kids/
The year round farm Boa Vista Orchards is the only farm open 7:30am - 6pm daily.. Hope that helps!!
Some of the farms like Boa Vista are open year round and should have apples and more.
The best time to go according to their website is from August to November. It was quite there a few weeks ago but we enjoyed the apple tasting and wineries
I believe all the apple ranchers are closed until next season.
Definitely! Many locations in the Apple Hill area are seasonal and close, yet our tourist center will be open as well as the year round farm Boa Vista Orchards www.boavista.com.. Hope that helps and Happy Holidays!!
We recommend Hillside Tree Farm in the Apple Hill area for a great Christmas tree cutting experience! hillsidetreefarm.com
It's all fields parking . I don't think that there is any charging stations for electric cars .
Open regardless for generators and solar panels power our farms even in the event of a PG&E outage!
Farm locations in the Apple Hill area will indeed be open regardless of PG&E outages for they have generators and solar panels that power their farms in the event of an outage!
Boa Vista Orchards www.boavista.com offer a variety of food options daily!
Think of Apple Hill like going wine tasting. It's an area filled with several farms each with different offerings that you can visit. Most open by 9 or 10 but may also have days they don't open at all.
Im not sure, probably Barsottis, but other than that its all local
Delfino Farms - 3205 N. Canyon Rd., Camino
Only some farms allow you pick your own, so check online first, but yes, they are generally still open until November.
There is not public transportation scheduled for the 2019 harvest season yet the traffic congestion is typically only a concern on October weekends.. Hope that helps!
apple i believe oct to dec
No spaces any area for photos
They are good for apples. Not sure about donut places
It seems this hollifay is just for school and goverment.
Open all day, year round!! (About 8 or 9am to 7pm) they have fireplaces as well!
Yes
Boa Vista has a lot to offer. Fruit, many different jars of vegetables and jellies. Great food and the apple cider is awesome. Beautiful view from Apple Hill. Nothing for the kids to do at this time. Most places closed in late November. If you do go have a safe and wonderful time.
Apple Hill is open year round for beer, cider (hot and cold!), fresh fruit and veggies, warm flaky pastries, jams and jellies, honey, pies, etc! And of course awesome merchants selling really unique stuff! The wineries in the area are also open and have tasting rooms! Enjoy your visit!
Y E S ! just make sure you dress warm :-) they've got plenty of beer, cider (hot too!), fireplaces and heat lamps to keep you warm, along with yummy pastries. Its busier in the afternoons
Year round Mon - Sun 7:30a- 5:30p
Check air quality map. They have the cleanest air in all US :)
Early nov but apple hill is open year around.
Should be. High hill and boa vista are.
The fires aren't affecting anything at Apple Hill
I kno Boa Vista is open 363 days a year. Not sure about the others.
The whole area is beautiful
All of the Farms trees are all turning different colors it is a perfect time to go
First off, Veterans day is November 11th. But yes they should be open
365 is the days of the year, they have a calendar they put out for that Question, I can't find it at thistime but, I can say Boa Vista is the only one who is open year round.
There is an Apple Hill Growers app that gives a lot of information on the various farms including directions, hours, and products.
We were there on Sunday and everything was open as far as we could tell.
Yes you can,the earlier the better, picking.
I highly reccomend going on a weekday. Weekends in October are crazy busy and parking can be hard to find. Lots of traffic as well. If you do go on the weekend be sure to get there early at 8 or 9am.
Yes there is Apple's to pick
At able achers they have a lot of kids activity. At high hill ranch they have lots of craftd and aple donuts and apple fritters as well as a hay ride and a pond and pony rides
Pretty busy. The shuttle is free and it would make it easier.
Some places do have pumpkins. When we were at Boa Vista three weeks ago, they have a pumpkin patch. Open daily. I imagine getting closer to Halloween, there will be places in Apple Hill with pumpkins.
Yes it is open the signs are all up so freeway doesn't get backed up with traffic
Each farm has a website and I checked out most of them, each one I have seen has a calendar of events. I would recommend checking into road conditions. I drove up last weekend and most of the exits are closed with the exception of Point View Dr. Or Carlson exit. Get there early. I like BOA Farms the best. The baked good are amazing.
Yes, open this weekend. All places not open yet but there are several of the favorites. High Hill, and Boa Vista for example. Not sure about specific times but if you google High Hill Ranch or Boa Vista it should have that info!
Yes. BOA farms is open year around.
You can call the number on the website and from there you can schedule a tour of apple hill
Yes on a leash
Some of the farms will be open, buy fruit, donuts , fresh apple cider, have a picnic if you want
No, but you will spend money because they all have cool stuff at each stop
Yes. They are open
There is a sign but à I don't think it was big, watch for it
Try calling around a few of the places that sells pies @Applehill...
Hi Kylie! Most locations in the Apple Hill area are indeed open today with regular hours!
Bishops pumpkin farm i believe is open on most weekends in wheatland. Train rides and other things for the small ones.
I'm not really an expert on the Apple Hill area. I've only visited this area twice but I would probably say yes. I think this area will see plenty of activity on 1/2/18.
They usually sell until Christmas Eve, but call first.
Sorry. I don't know that info. Have you checked any websites?
I usually head into Placerville and eat at the Denny's on Main St. The food at High Hill Ranch is decent, you're just gonna pay more for it than it's worth.
Yes .... no worries it is open .... and it's no matter what always fun
Yes, most vendors will be open. There may be some that won't show, because the vendor booth area is outside for a lot of farms, but many still show up for the faithful visitors. I suggest you dress warm, and hope you have a relatively dry trip!
While most may be open during the rain, I would advise staying away because most of the farms are in dirt or rural conditions as is, so the added rain can make it very muddy and definitely muck up the experience. Most vendors and crafts booths are also outside, so it can really make it hard to shop because some of the vendors will avoid the farms on the days that it rains. I definitely recommend rescheduling your visit for another day if you happen to plan a day to Apple Hill when it rains.
It's a collection of small farms and orchards with shops, rides, craft fairs, wine, food, fresh apple pies, etc. Along a winding country road numbered 1 - 60. Most people go to farm #1 High Hill Ranch. It's the biggest with the most attractions. Parking extends into the orchards. Scenery this time of year is beautiful.
They do have one but it's not for adults only, it's for all family, members
Yes as long your dog is on a on a leash.
Due to covid I know a lot of things are different but trying to bring my kids up for first time to apple pick for the day and having a hard time getting a hold of someone to see which orchards will let us. I have looked on the apple hill website but still having trouble. Thanks in advace
Yes they will be
Most are wheelchair accessible, but the parking can be somewhat of a issue. Boa Vista is wheelchair accessible, and a great place to visit, one of my favorite. Have a blessed day.
Apple Hill is open year round, and most farms are open by 8am. High Hill Ranch opens at 7:30 am and Boa Viata opens at 7am. There are plenty morr farms in Apple Hill, but those two are some of the most popular.
Most farms are open by 8 am. High Hill Ranch opens at 7am and Boa Vista Orchards opens at 7:30am. There are many more farms in the area, although those two are the most popular.
Most farms are open by 8am. High Hill opens at 7:30, and Boa Vista opens at 7am
Do you mean what time do they close or what time of year do they close? Most farms do close around 5 p.m., however some farms are only open a couple of months out of the year. The most popular year-round farm in the Apple Hill area is Boa Vista Orchards.
A lot of Apple Hill is handicap accessible, although not all are. The two most popular spots, Boa Vista Orcharda aand High Hill Ranch are wheelchair accessible however. I recommend starting off with those two first.
Shirley, I contacted Apple Hill yesterday, and they stated everything was clear there. Have a blessed day...
There isn't much smoke anymore, due to the fires being mostly contained. I went last week though while the fires were still going, and there was minimal smoke in the air. The sky wasnt hazy or anything. Although I suppose it just depends on the wind amd the day.
Dogs are acceptable only on leash.
Apple Hill gets very crowded, and traffic could be very heavy depending on the time of day that you go...
I would suggest High Hill pumpkin patch...
These ranches DO have you-pick: Goyette’s North Canyon Ranch (granny smith apples & pumpkins, Sat-Sun only), Sloan Winters Mtn Orchard (pears & veggies, Fri-Sun), Argyres Orchard (a few apples and concord grapes – Sat-Sun until all picked!).
Yes they have wine and beer tasting. Prices are cheap.
Not really . It's beautiful here
Yes it's open on the weekends, some places have horse riding for the kids, and vendors with things to sell
Yes.
There were many farms not open during the week. The crowds were definitely smaller.
Yes you can bring your own food.
There is a local pond called forebay in pollock pines that you can fish. My advice get your apples, fridders, and pies and then go fishing as all the tourists clog up traffic. The pond has restrooms and best of all is free....
I bought them. Thanks
Went today and most of the stands were closed, and I could not find anything(literally) kids related. Which was very upsetting for my 3 year old. Hope your trip goes better.
Anytime but some are only open weekends. There are some that have stuff for kids.
Apples are gluten free
There is a best western in pollock pines. Not sure about rates bu it probably the closest hotel to apple hill and most importantly in the opposite direction of traffic.
Yes Some of them High hill ranch and Boa Vista and a few others as well.
Denver Dan's farm, Golden Delicious
