For some odd unknown explanation I’ve had luck on my side every single time: I’ve never waited over 40min, was helped by reception folks. Worse thing I can think of.? My picture on pics liscense is HORRID and not only mine but everybody’s I’ve looked at. Can’t be coincidence cuz there are too many. And naturally Parking. They’ve been in business many years with the same lot. Bad for getting brand new permit, bad for everybody. Buy out lot next to em or move, The county won’t be getting any smaller.

This place should NOT be able to fail you on the driving test if you're still around the DMV area, that's just way too early to fail because you don't get an actual chance , and getting out of the actual DMV is a nightmare because of how bad the parking is on the side of the road. I failed yesterday, and now I have to wait an extra month to retake. I really wish there was a DMV in cameron park/El Dorado Hills so I can just go there and save time

If you are thinking about make an appointment in this DMV for your driver license behind the wheel test, don't waste your time. Placerville has the worse roads for it, full of blindspots and places to trick new drivers. (Even though I was able to pass mine) Other than that the guy who was with me during the test had serious problems on speaking, I lost one point because I literally couldn't understand what he was asking from me.

I like the Placerville DMV very much, especially if I make an appointment. I need to qualify my review by saying that I have had the unfortunate experience of using the Stockton, CA and Sacramento, CA DMV's in the past. It is a small town DMV. I have had good experiences with the staff at the DMV location, they have been cheerful and helpful. My son had test anxiety so he was offered a private room to take a written test in peace which I thought was very considerate of them; I believe you have to request this option. The facility is clean and neat. If you don't have an appointment be prepared to wait. Parking is limited.

Placerville is less busy than Sacramento..be there at 8 a.m.
You can either go in the DMV and ask for a printout of your driving record and I think it cost $5 so, or you might be able to go to DMV. Gov online and see if you can get the answers there.
Identification is $18 to $25, unless you're 70 or older than its free. Go on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday after 3pm and your wait should be short. But not on a payday.
Plan on several hours if you don't have an appointment. I was out in one hour with an appointment
You will need to call them. I dont know if you and do that on line, or not
I'd suggest make an appointment, arrive at DMV the day of your appointment and stand in the appointment line inside. Don't start at the start here line. Then they will send you to a computer to fill out an application, when application is complete you will get a confirmation number. You'll take that number back to the front desk and then they will give you a number. Then you wait for your number to be called. When your number is called, you'll have to show proof of who you are with a series of important papers, pay a fee and then take a test back at the computer you originally filled out your application. If you pass test, you'll get a permit.
Yes you will have to surrender your out of state license and take the written test again, but you have 3 chances, and you dont have to wait to retake, they send you right back to to take it again, and they leg you review what you just missed, its easy, then you wait for your license to come inbthe mail, the cost is $30 or $35, depending. And you will recieve it in exactly 2 weeks. I hope this helps, good luck
No you have to pay for your permit or your license before taking the written test. You take it on the computer now, no more writing.
