I am very glad for the loyalty that Web is here. I would never go to Bakersfield or Ridgecrest to recycle. Bottem line the money we get for the recycle would pay for the gas to get home. I would hope that the Kern River Valley residence would show more appreciation and patience towards the people who are are working there because they are not paid a salary, no health insurance and lets face it as hot as it is in the summer they are dedicated and show up. I wouldnt do it would you?

Very friendly and helpful. This place is very busy always. Yet the employees are still very professional and friendly. Just be ready to wait. Also they shut down the line early but do accept people until close. Call first if you have bottles. Not sure why but Saturday they couldn't take any bottles.

Why do the water bottles have to have the caps removed?

Andrew Strahan | Oct 4, 2020
Randal Skates | Oct 4, 2020

Otherwise they create air pockets in the bail or they explode when being crushed, they have to compact everything down or they couldn't stay in business taking that small of weight down to the processer

Can anyone tell me on what days does Web recycling come to Kernville?

James we only make appts for the organizations and Bars at this time. That way they are not holding up the line of public recyclers during normal business hours.

Stephanie, As I am sure by now you found out that the cashier you had an appt with was ill on Saturday. Sadly there was no one else available to cover her shift. We are sorry you were not seen. Hopefully this will not happen to you again. We do work with all volunteers here so it can sometimes happen that people are ill or they just can't make it in. Once again I am sorry this happened to you.

Why can't you take crushed cans in to be recycled?

April Cline | Oct 4, 2021
Leslie Turowski | Oct 4, 2021

Most recycling collection programs are single-stream. But you shouldn't crush cans in a single-stream system. That's because it's harder for the electrical current which helps separate out aluminum cans at municipal recycling facilities to identify them as cans when they're crushed. Check with your local recycling center for their policy on this matter.

What special things need to be done to CA CRV items to be accepted for recycling. (Something mentioned about caps removed from bottles).

sally oliver | Oct 4, 2021
WEB Recycling | Oct 4, 2021

Sally, Thank you for asking, since the onset of COVID-19 the state, county and CalRecycle have implemented several new regulations. These are to keep you and the crew persons who handle the recyclables safer. 1.) Before arriving at the facility please make sure that all recyclables are sorted first by material, IE cans from plastic and glass. 1.) Plastic must be sorted by # (you can find it inside the triangle) most all will be #1 or #2. #1 is most soda and beverage bottles, #2 is the opaque plastic like in milk bottles. As for caps this is a safety issue, we use a compression baler and the caps become projectiles that can put someone's eye out or other damage if it hits you. That is why caps be removed, the state says bottles must be free of any contamination prior to being processed. 3.) Glass must be separated colored from clear. 4.) All CRV must be separate from scrap. Completing these steps prior to arrival makes your trip here faster and easier. I hope this Helps.

What happens to the recycling materials, and where does it go?

Wazz Up | Oct 5, 2019
WEB Recycling | Oct 5, 2019

Lathlena, Once you bring your items to WEB and we refund the CRV to you we then bale up each product individually. Each week we take the materials in our main yard to a CA Certified Processor, they in turn shred chip or pulverize the material for the next step in the recycling process. I hope this answers your question. Thank you for your interest in what we do. WEB Recycling

how do we package the plastic bottles that we paid .05 cents for to get our full .05 cents back?

Robert Gouin | Oct 5, 2019
WEB Recycling | Oct 5, 2019

State regulations are we can take 50 small or 50 large plastic bottles at a time. Or a combination that equals 50 pieces. The same goes for cans and glass. I will say that if you are bringing in mostly the thin water bottles your best bet is to count them into bags of 50 and turn them in 1 at a time. However if you are bringing in 2ltr pop bottles, gatoraide, poweraide, or any of the other drink bottles that are thicker, you will get a better return by weighing them. We can not however pay you for a count of 50 and weigh the rest on the same order. Once again state regulation. Sorry. But you can get back in line to go through again.

What items do yall accept? Copper? Scrap aluminum? Brass?

Mark Bradshaw | Oct 5, 2018
WEB Recycling | Oct 5, 2018

Sadly we do not purchase any scrap materials as we are not licensed to do so. We are a Certified CA Redemption Center, meaning we accept all cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles. We will accept all recyclable plastic and glass but can only pay anyone for the ones with the CA Redemption Value label on them.
