Sally, Thank you for asking, since the onset of COVID-19 the state, county and CalRecycle have implemented several new regulations. These are to keep you and the crew persons who handle the recyclables safer. 1.) Before arriving at the facility please make sure that all recyclables are sorted first by material, IE cans from plastic and glass. 1.) Plastic must be sorted by # (you can find it inside the triangle) most all will be #1 or #2. #1 is most soda and beverage bottles, #2 is the opaque plastic like in milk bottles. As for caps this is a safety issue, we use a compression baler and the caps become projectiles that can put someone's eye out or other damage if it hits you. That is why caps be removed, the state says bottles must be free of any contamination prior to being processed. 3.) Glass must be separated colored from clear. 4.) All CRV must be separate from scrap. Completing these steps prior to arrival makes your trip here faster and easier. I hope this Helps.
I was first in line on Friday. They opened promptly at 8:00a.m. I was $14.45 richer 15 minutes later. Yes, caps need to be removed. Separate aluminum and CA CRV plastics. They accept 'junk plastic', but no payment given. Separate glass by color. Show picture I.D. They record your license plate number.
Separate cans, bottles and plastics. Bottles need to be separated into clear and colored. All plastic bottles need to have caps removed
